We'll provide an upgrade path, but it will probably be like an importer, ie you install your G3 next to your G2 and tell the G3 to suck in all the G2 data. We'll see how that goes.
No plan yet for Gallery Remote, but having remote APIs is a strong desire on the team so it will happen (maybe not until 3.1 though).

Some questions:
- Is that going to be heavy on resources? CPU and RAM during the import. I know G2 can be a beast when you do a top-down thumbnail resize. I've already got my PHP set to use up to 1GB RAM
- will that mean moving all of the original photo data to a new point? That //will// be some heavy lifting.
Happy to help alpha and beta the upgrade stuff.

Importing 100,000 photos is going to be a heavy operation no matter how you do it. I haven't yet figured out how this is going to work, but I'll publicize it when it's available.

I stuck with the latest Ver. of Gallery 1 because I just liked the format better and the performance i felt was faster then 2.
Latley, I'm haveing issues with people hacking the gallery because of the permissions it requires, can I make to move to Gallery 3 from 2?
I'm sure there are a few more like me out there.

I don't know yet if we'll provide an upgrade path from Gallery 1 to Gallery 3. I'd like to think that we will, but in case we don't you can always do a G1->G2 then G2->G3 upgrade.
