Thumbnail Bot / Retroactively Load Thumbnails

This is sort of a general question but I was wondering if there was a way to write a bot or a script to go through all the gallery pages and load the thumbnails so that the first user to the page doesn't have to wait for them?

If I were to write something like this what language / platform would you suggest? I know Perl has the Mechanize library and Python probably has some good features in this department as well...

Also, I know there's a way to do it inside the album but being able to do it remotely or retroactively would be valuable as well since we are using lightroom to upload the images and I don't believe that is an option in the exporter.
