Albums disappeared & I can't log in...

Two of my albums have completely disappeared from my photogallery. And when I try to log in, it says password is incorrect.

Immediately after the albums disappeared, I would get an "upgrading" in progress message when I tried to log in. That is over now, and I still can't log in and two of my albums are missing.

This is the message I was getting for a while:

Upgrading Users

The user database in your gallery was created with an older version of the software and is out of date. This is not a problem! We will upgrade it. This may take some time. Your data will not be harmed in any way by this process. Rest assured, that if this process takes a long time now, it's going to make your gallery run more efficiently in the future.
If you get an error, and only some users are upgraded, try refreshing the page to upgrade remaining users.

Please Wait...

Checking user 1 of 3 . . . . skipped
Checking user 2 of 3 . . . . skipped
Checking user 3 of 3 . . . . skipped

Error: There was a problem upgrading users. Please check messages above, and try again

------------------------

So:

1. How do I log in?
2. How do I get my two other albums back?

The albums are still there, because I can find them through other means. But for whatever reason, the albums do not show up on the main page.... And I still can't log in...

Are you using G2 or G1?

I don't know if it is G2 or G1

This is my gallery: http://www.openairoutreach.com/gallery/

There used to be four albums on the main page, now there are only two for some reason...

But I can access some of the "disappeared" albums through this link: http://www.openairoutreach.com/gallery/spring07

So I know that those albums have not been deleted, they have simply disappeared from the main page.

I also cannot log it, it says my username or password is incorrect...

Well at the bottom it says:
Powered by Gallery v1.4.4-pl4

This is a G2 forum so I will move it where you might get better help.

I don't have much experiance with G1 anymore so try this:
FAQ: When I try to login, everything seems to go correctly, but Gallery doesn't log me in?

I think you could rerun the configuration wizard again to change the password.

When I try to log in to my gallery, it says that my username or password is incorrect.

Is there a way to have my password emailed to me?

Or is it possible for me to have my password reset?

This is what I found:

I've forgotten my admin password! How can I reset it?

* Create a file named resetadmin in your /gallery/setup directory.

* Visit the configuration wizard in your browser

* Follow the instructions on the page

* Specify a new password in step 2 of the configuration wizard

The Configuration Wizard will give you a special piece of information, and you will be required to edit the resetadmin file, add the string, save, and refresh your browser. This is a security measure to prove that you are an administrator.

-----------------------------

I tried to log into the Configuration Wizard, and it says:

Error: Invalid username or password

Now what???

I can't log into my photo gallery, I can't log into my Configuration Wizard, and two of my albums are still missing!

I think that if I could simply log in, I could get my albums back. But somehow my "username" and "password" has been changed on me!

Did you add a file called resetadmin in your /gallery/setup directory?

Can I add a file to the gallery/setup directory without logging in to the Configuration Wizard?

How do I add a file?

When I go to the "gallery/setup" it says:

Gallery configuration
You must log in as an administrator to edit this server's configuration.

How do I find out the username and password for the "gallery/setup"?

It seems I am having the same problem at the "gallery/setup" that I am having in my gallery - my username and password aren't working.

The same way you installed the files in the first place, most likely FTP.

I had web designers install the photo gallery.

I contacted them to see if they know the log in.

I am not much of a computer guy. I have no idea what "FTP" is.

Since two of my albums are not being shown anymore, and since my log in no longer works, does that mean that my photo gallery was hacked by somebody, or is this a fault with the "upgrade" gallery did? One day my albums were there and I could log in, the next day my albums were gone and I couldn't log in.

I am a simple guy and I need simple solutions. I just want my pictures back and I want to be able to upload more pictures. That is all.

point your web designers to:

Could be but I doubt it. Once you get everything sorted you should upgrade.

Gallery does not upgrade, you or your host has to initialize upgrades. Where did you get this "upgrade" idea?

If my gallery was not hacked, and if it wasn't messed up during an "upgrade", why can't I log in anymore and why are two of my albums missing?

I got the "upgrade" idea because right after my two albums disappeared, I tried to log in and got this message:

Upgrading Users

Your data will not be harmed in any way by this process. Rest assured, that if this process takes a long time now, it's going to make your gallery run more efficiently in the future.

It was during this upgrade that my albums disappeared.
And it was after this upgrade that my log in didn't work anymore.

That is why I concluded it was the fault of the upgrade.
It seems to me that this upgrade must have hidden my two albums and change my password.
How else could my albums have disappeared and my password been changed?

Is there anyone at Gallery who has the power or authority to change my password back to what it was before this upgrade? And it is possible for them to bring back the two albums that this upgrade disappeared? Since Gallery seemed to cause this problem, are they able to fix it for me? Please?

My web designers said:

"The user/pass I had for FTP is also not working. You'll need to call iPowerweb to get them to reset it. The good thing is that your email address is still the same. It would be more difficult if it wasn't.
ipowerweb.com"

So I guess Ipowerweb.com can reset the password for me?

Perhaps something changed on the server.

You have the power if you have access to the server.

I have been trying.

If they changed the FTP password then you will have to ask them to change it back or create a new one.
Then since you can't follow the FAQ directions you will have to give your web designer the password and have them change the Gallery access.

How do we have control over what your host does?

Dave

I appreciate all of your help. I apologize if I've come off bad. You can image how frustrating it would be to lose albums and to be locked out of your gallery. Again, thanks for all your help. I hope I can figure this out.
