A couple questions regarding Gallery

I have been wanting to store all my photos on a website or server; the problem is I dont want to use a site like photobucket.
I came across Gallery and it seems to be exactly what I'm looking for with the look and functionality of it.

I have two questions I am hoping someone can answer for me though.......
1)I have zero experience in creating wesites or uploading any type of program, HTML, or script. I would be using something like FrontPage or Dreamweaver...is Gallery easy enough to use for a beginner like me and are there any other programs I will need (other than Gallery and Dreamweaver)?
2)The photoes that I would be uploading... are they stored on the same server my website will be or are they stored on a 3rd party server (like Gallery or photobucket)?

1) you can use Gallery out-of-the-box with a variety of themes (looks) but to customize it to your exact requirements you'll have to learn a little html (and be ready to jump in and edit template files etc.)

2) all the photos, information, everything - all stored on your webserver. Nothing is stored on a 3rd party site.
