Just Installed gallery_remote_1.5.1-b43.zip the other night and ever since it will not run - Task manager shows the exe is running in the back ground but no GUI appears. Went back to gallery_remote_1.5.1-b42.zip And all works again - appears the latest release is bugged. Or is it just me? I have downloaded it twice now so it is not a corrupt download - although it may be a corrupted upload by the Author? |

Yes! I am getting the same behavior on two different computers, under Windows 2000 and Windows XP. I have wasted two or three hours on this -- uninstalling, installing with the VM, installing with the VM, trying different versions of Java, etc. As you stated, the task manager shows that the Gallery Remote is running but no GUI appears. |

Confirmed that this problem is resolved by uninstalling Gallery Remote 1.5.1-b43, re-installing the three year old (!) version 1.5 from the wiki page (http://gallery.menalto.com/wiki/Gallery_Remote) and extracting the files for 1.5.1-b42 on top of it. I would strongly encourage the maintainer to remove 1.5.1-b43 as soon as possible so that other people aren't prompted to download the newest version and waste their time on this problem. To reproduce this problem, just install a clean copy of 1.5 -- with or without the VM, I tried both -- and download the update to 1.5.1-b43 when prompted, and unpack it into the C:\Program Files\Gallery Remote directory. |

You actually do not need to go back to the vanilla 1.5 - you can install 1.5.1-B42 straight over the top of 1.5.1-B43 and it will work. That said I agree this latest release should be pulled down - as it does get rather annoying being prompted every time I open gallery remote to update to a version I know does not work. |

Same problem here... it is caused by some sort of check for imagemagick. convert.exe is called, but does not end whatever it should do. after killing convert.exe via taskmgr gallery remote starts up, but works extremy slow. |

Thanks for the feedback, and apologies for the very late response. I've updated the version checking mechanism to no longer push b43. -- |

Hi, I noticed that b44 was released and decided to try it. It behaves the same for me as b43 -- again, the task manager shows that the Gallery Remote is running but no GUI appears. I rolled back to b42 and it works fine. However, I also upgraded my wife's computer to b44 and it works fine there. She is running Windows Vista, I am running Windows 2000. Was there a change in b43 and b44 that would prevent Gallery Remote from working correctly under Windows 2000? |

Fyi, I see the same behavior on b45, where the task manager shows that Gallery Remote is running but no GUI appears. This is on a different computer with Windows XP. As before, rolling back to b42 fixes this problem. |

Subscribe, same thing trying to update to b46. Installed via GalleryRemote.1.5.Win32.NoVM.exe downloaded today. We have Sun Java JRE 6 Update 16 installed, so selected that file as the Java to use. Tried apply gallery_remote_1.5.1-b46.zip over top of the files, and I see the Gallery Remote EXE in the task list, and also the Java runtime, but no windows show up. Rolling back to the previous files (from zip backup) restored proper operation. <><><><> I was trying to apply the latest update to see if it happened to take care of the problem we are seeing that after we upload new photos, we must regenerate the resize and thumbnail graphics, else randomly the default graphic comes up indicating there is a problem with the graphic. We will continue doing so - at least it is a working workaround. |

This is what solved the exact same problem for me, on version Verify and when necessary change the convertPath in the file Change it into: Worked like a charm after changing this. My system info: Gallery URL = http://sub.mydomain.com/multi-media-center/main.php |

Thanks ictinhuis! Well I'll be! Now 1.5.1-b46 works here as well. This is the needed solution. In the im.properties file, it used to have simply convert.exe, now it must be full pathed. Makes it hard to check in as a diff as you can never be sure of the drive/path Gallery Remote is installed to. Perhaps the thing that was done between b46 and the prior build could be un-done and then convert.exe would not need to be full pathed. *** Also, the comment in that file says jpegtran instead of convert. |
