Excuse me if my English is not good.

I used the good Gallery 1 for years because of its simplicity and not using database. It worked so far until in more or less this year. The following error was popped up "randomly".

"You may need to set LimitRequestBody 16777216 and memory_limit = 64M in /etc/php.ini and /etc/httpd/conf.d/php.conf on your Gallery server"

Photos would most likely not be successfully added then. Sometimes, it could finish up with highlight in a blank album.

However, I could upload tens of MB of photos (both many XXXKB JPGs and a single big XXMB ZIP) using FORM. I believe Apache server (e.g. LimitRequestBody) and PHP4 (e.g. memory_limit, max_input_time, post_max_size, upload_max_filesize) have been correctly configured to allow 100MB of data transfer.

I've also tried the followings:-

- JRE 1.5.0_15 on the WinXP client.
- JRE 1.6.0_07 on the WinXP client.
- JRE 1.6.0_10 on the WinXP client.
- Gallery 1.5.6
- Gallery 1.5.9
- Gallery 1.6RC2
- Gallery 1.6RC3

All have the same "random" failure on the same P4 3GHz 1GB WinXP Pro SP3 machine.

However, the same Gallery 1.5.9 could have GalleryRemoteAppletMini working well with several other machines (C 2.53GHz 512MB to another P4 3G 1GB) using the same JRE 1.6.0_07. They were at different locations having differnt ISP connections. There was not even a single occurrence of the above failure on these machines.

It is noted that there are some java exceptions in the attached console log of the problematic machine. I am not a programmer but searching internet showing discussions of potential explicit thread synchronisation in the java multithreaded programming environments.

Please advise how this can be fixed. The applet is really useful for adding many photos at one click. Thanks.
