login issue

Gallery URL (optional but very useful): http://www.lcti.net/mcnutt/gallery
Gallery version: 1.5.9
Apache version: not apache - IIS 6
PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please): 5.2.1
Graphics Toolkit: imagemagick
Operating system: windows 2003
Web browser/version (if applicable): IE7, IE8 beta 2, and firefox 3.0.3

Problem statement:
When I go to the main gallery page and click login it takes me to the username and password page. When I enter a valid username and password and click login, the page redirects back to the main page but I am not logged in.

Troubleshooting steps taken and additional info:

1. intentionally entered an incorrect password to ensure that the login page returns an error.

2. reviewed the troubleshooting section of the faq and to the best of my ability tried all applicable troubleshooting steps.

3. The session test on the diagnostics page works. What's interesting is when I go to either the diagnostics page or the configuration wizard I'm prompted to log in and this works. if I go back to the gallery main page I'm now logged in and have access to all of gallery's functions. This would be an acceptable workaround if I was the only person using the gallery, but i need to have users be able to log in the normal way.

3. turned on debug mode. did not see any errors.

4. switched from black template to default.

I'm willing to supply an admin account for troubleshooting purposes.

Thanks!

yeah I gave up and migrated to the new version. it was something I needed to have working now and it just could not wait. you know how it is, if you don't get your vacation pictures up in the first couple of days it just never happens ;-).

just finished migrating my old albums, hadn't had a chance to come back on here and post, sorry about that.

Hi,

well, you made you posting and not 8 hours later you migrated?
I don't see any reason for a ";-)"
How on earth do we have any chance to help?

This makes me sick.

I know it's a free product and free support and don't expect people to be responding right away. but honestly by the time I posted I had been fighting with that gallery installation for hours and had other problems with it previously, and I just needed something that worked.

There are people that have photos of a trip to a very remote area of mexico that *really* want and If i did not get this thing sorted before they lost interst and moved on with their lives I knew I would never get to see them.

anyway sorry you have such hard feelings about the thing. that warm glow I had from the trip is fading fast now that i'm back in the real world...

Gallery URL (optional but very useful): http://www.gwfinancialservices.co.uk/photos
Gallery version: 2.3
Apache version: 2.0.63
PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please): 5.2.3
Graphics Toolkit: imagemagick
Operating system: Linux
Web browser/version (if applicable): IE7

Please find configuration above. Any suggestions would be useful

If you need to try and access the admin section then the username is admin and the password is also admin.

Also the Random letters do not seem to work. Try and register and it will not recognise the correct letters
