How to have an album viewable to everyone, but the photos uploaded in this album default to only visible to registered users?

Hi I would like to be able to have various albums that are visible to all users, but that all images uploaded to these albums have default permissions of visible only to registered users. How could I achieve this with the various permissions options?

Also, where abouts in the database are the permissions for each photo stored?

If this is not possible via the standard permission options are the any other good alternatives? One thing I thought is if I create all albums as visible to only registered users, and modify the AlbumSelect module to show/list all albums, ignoring user permissions. I haven't yet figured out how I would adopt the module to perform this though.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
