I am stuck using the autoinstaller. I get a 500 error when I am trying to run http://superkain.net/gallery2/install/index.php . I do have access to my shell to run commands, but i can't figure out where the error log is for this to get more detailed information. looks like it may be a php misconfig? i'm pretty new to this so I'll put my flame shield in case I am missing something drastically easy. I've read the faqs and searched the boards but i can't seem to find anyone with a persistent 500 error that mirrors this. Looks like the clue to this is my phpinfo link. it won't work in the gallery directory, but it works fine in the wwwroot. help?

Then do yourself a favor and don't use the pre-installer to install Gallery.
To find out more about 500 server errors, you need to take a look at the server's error log. If you don't know where it's at you need to ask your host.
Since you have shell access, just use these instructions to get Gallery on your server:
http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:How_do_I_Install_Gallery2#Installing_Gallery_2_2
You can either download the entire package then use FTP to upload. Then use those instructions or you might be able to use wget to grab the package from sourceforge, then use those instructions.
