Yet another gallery validation blank page.

I have the current latest versions of gallery (2.2.6), wordpress (2.6.2) and wpg2 (3.0.7) installed.\ I grabbed the connections reloaded wpg2 optimized theme for wordpress. Gallery is installed and working properly, as is Wordpress.

When I activate the WPG2 plugin the first tab under the WPG2 config is saying I need to use the WPG2 Paths tab to point gallery to WPG2 as I have it in a custom directory. I do that and when I save that config, the page returns blank under the WP Admin header. If I click back to the first WPG2 config tab or the WPG2 config link that also returns blank.

I've seen lots of search results telling me to increase the PHP Memory in the WP .htaccess. Trying that only returns a server error. (Site hosted with 1and1).

I also tried this result http://codex.gallery2.org/Integration:WPG2_How_To_Create_Custom_Header
- Still returns blank page though I suspect it to is intended to fix the live site page not the admin side.

Deactivating and reactivating the plugin under wordpress starts me back at square one.

My error is getting blank pages (under the WP admin header) in the Admin side of things, while trying to validate WPG2. Any thoughts?

for general instructions on how to deal with the "white screen of death"

Thanks for the link, I hadn't seen that one.

Unfortunately, I think that page is for viewing the gallery in wordpress, which isn't what I'm trying to do. This is a blank page in the WPG2 Admin.

Going through those steps anyway, I have enough memory allocated (40M) and no PHP issues.

The last part of the WPG2 Admin page when it goes blank, as described elsewhere is:

Quote:
</ul>
<div id="wpbody">

I know there are a lot of things that can cause this. I need some help beyond "check memory" to get past them. I can give phpinfo and other information upon request.

Side note: Are there any plans to incorporate more detailed error handling for this, it seems awfully common.

I had the white page of death as well and found it disappeared when I unloaded all other plugins. (Not very practical) However, as I reloaded them I was able to see which ones broke it and a number did including "simple tags" and "wordbook".
However I haven't determined yet if it is the plugins themselves or a combination of my theme and the plugins. More testing required.
