PHP-Nuke article submission and Gallery image integration

Sorry if this is a PHP-Nuke question instead of a gallery question:

I'm trying to get PHP-Nuke's articles and Gallery's images to work together.

I'd like to use the PHP-Nuke article submission process to allow people to submit pictures. I've set up topics in PHP-Nuke which correspond to albums in my gallery.
Minimally, I want people to be able to submit a picture along with an article submission so that they don't have to put it on a server for me to download. Even better, when I approve an article, the image automatically gets put in the associated album.

Also, when the article/picture-submission shows up on the front page, it has a thumbnail of the picture instead of the topic area.

Has anyone done this sort of integration? Any suggestions on how to do it, or at least do it manually?

This is something that I've always wanted to do, but have never had time to work on. Let me know if you, or anybody else, makes any progress on this.

Unfortunately I don't have the time. For now I'm content to have a publicly accessible "New Submissions" album, and to put a message at the top of the article submission form referring people to the album.
