Postnuke has renamed the project to Zikula and made major changes. There was a Postnuke integration called mGallery2, but no work has been done on it since February, well before the Zikula changes. The project is at http://code.zikula.org/mgallery2/

Has anyone tried this with the latest Zikula and Gallery? Or is there a new integration for Zikula?

No responses to this thread yet, huh? Well, as a LONG time PostNuke + Gallery user (Gallery 1.x for a long time, but 2.x for the past year or more) - I'm VERY interested in the successful integration of these two products. I'm off to try the PostNuke .764 G2 module, and see how it behaves. I'll report back here - but please, share if you have any experience.

Peace,
Billy

No dice. I tried the .2 version of mGallery2 (this is the same version I was successfully running with PostNuke .764) - with no luck.

I enabled legacy module support. I copied both the Group and User directories over into the modules directory - even though those directories don't exist in Zikula 1.0. I'll ask over in those forums, as well - but...

Re-iterating the question: Has anyone gotten Gallery to work with Zikula 1.x (the release version of PostNuke)?

Thanks for any insight / observations,
Billy

Billy,

I guess we are the only two using Postnuke/Zikula here? It's a shame, the reason I'm using Gallery now is that it was THE module for Postnuke in 2002 when I started my sailing site. It's so much better and more flexible than anything that is a module for Zikula now.

I contacted the most recent developer of the mGallery2 module and unfortunately he's not using Zikula yet and only worked on mGallery2 in the past to make it work for his personal site. Indicated he might work on it again in the fall.

I wish we could get one of the real Gallery coders interested in this. My members really like the features I'm able to use now with the Gallery/Postnuke photo albums. The main thing that never worked with mGallery2 was the short urls. If that worked with Zikula it would be the dream setup.

I've been using the mGallery2 module with Gallery 2.2 with PN 7.64 for a good while now (and have been using Gallery (1, then 2) and PN for years).

Chalk me up as another that would like to see the module moved forward.

I *do* have shortURLs working with mGallery2 on PN 7.64.

And, naturally, I want to make sure those shortURLs still work when I upgrade, so all of the old links pointing to the gallery still work.

I haven't looked at installing Zikula yet - largely because I was waiting for some modules to be updated, hoping I wouldn't have to customize the mGallery2 stuff myself.. ;)

I have been using Gallery2 and postnuke 0.7.6.4 with the mGallery2 0.2 Module for some time, and have no problems. Seems to work just fine!

Recently I have started to work with Zikula. After the inital culture shock, I am starting to get used to it.

Like the other humble pentitants here ;) I have been trying to integrate Gallery2 into Zikula, with some success, but not something that could be used in a live Site yet, so I am looking for ways to get the mGallery2 Module upgraded to work with Gallery2, which is my preferred Gallery System.

*** Do NOT use the mGallery2-0.2.zip (mGallery2 0.2) distribution available from the Zikula repository! The archive creates a Users and Groups Folder in the Zikula Modules Folder, and will break your Users Core Module (well it did mine...). Fortunately, putting it right wasn't so bad, but the short and long of it is that it doesn't work.

There is a distribution which does work with Zikula, but not well enough to use in a live Site yet, but at least it doesn't break Zikula. You can find it here:

http://code.zikula.org/mgallery2/changeset/77/trunk?old_path=%2F&format=zip

The distribution archive is called trunk_r77.zip so you may want to rename it something more humane ;)

Unfortunately, I do not have the expertise or time to get down and dirty with the code (I would if I could) to make this integration work.

While the integration sort of works, there are still things which do not seem to, for example:

- Some of the Admin Panel language/text is not updated. This is a relatively small issue.
- I cannot get the mGallery2 Sideblock to display in Zikula.
- When I switch 'On' the Sideblock in the mGallery2 Admin panel, I get Browser errors when launching the Module in Zikula (bottom left, indicating some pathology with the code). It doesn't 'break' or make Zikula or Gallery2 fall over as such, but obviously something is not working.

I suspect there are other issues too :(

So, until a stable and working Zikula friendly mGallery2 Module appears, I am going to have to put the integration of Gallery2 in Zikula on hold. This is sad. The functionality of Zikula is better than postnuke, so I will be upgrading my sites in due course (once I am more familiar and comfortable with it). The prospect of having to use another Gallery application is not appealing, as I am a keen Gallery2 user.

I hope there is someone with the expertise who can be persuaded to get this intergation working. Surely the postnuke friendly Module provides a large foundation to work with (so not having to re-invent too many wheels) so it is a question of making the modification necessary to make it Zikula friendly.

Gallery2 is a cracking Gallery application. I am prepared to help in whatever way I can, but without some expert direction, I do not know where to start.

Cheers,

Chris.

You might want to check out the new Gallery2 module integration into Zikula here: http://code.zikula.org/mgallery2/

I am interested if there has been any movement in getting the Gallery product to work with Zikula yet?

Any updates?
