Hi, I've inherited Gallery and only have a login that allows to add galleries, edit tags etc. I want to create new logins with restricted admin rights but don't have the correct login details. Does anyone have any advice on how I can find this info as it's been lost in the sands of time here. It's a dat question I realise!

Hello,
if this is your Gallery and you have access to the webspace, you can restore the password for the user 'admin'.
Just put a file called 'resetadmin' (yes, no extension) in the setup folder.
Then open the config-wizard with your browser and follow the instructions.

I also inherited Gallery v1.4.3-pl2 and need to reset admin password.
I have tryed resetadmin and it did not work because I can not run configuration wizard.
I am new and may not be doing it correctly.
If uploading a new password file or something to fix it would be great.
Any help would greatly appreciated.

There is a .htaccess file in the setup folder.
Remove it and you should be able to access the config.

I had a look in the setup folder did not find .htaccess file there.
I looked throught ftp and also went in throught web host setup page still no file.
My web host has been great as I wiped my site out and they restored a backup for me.
I did find some file that look like login/password related in
\albums\.users
Like I said I am new to all this.

Hi,
you said you get an internal server error. That would be error 500 and the reason would be the .htaccess file
What i see is a Error 403 "You don't have permission to access /gallery/setup on this server."
Please chmod the setup folder to 777

I have changed it back to 777 so I can see the 500 error.
I am still not finding a .htaccess file in /gallery/setup.
Found if I set it to 755 I can get config wizard to run.
I enter new password and save config.
Reset to 400 and try and login fails.
I also found out what Apache, PHP versions Blue host are using.
Both have been updated to new versions.
