Hi there. I've used WPG for a while w/ Wordpress, and it's worked well. Upgrading to the new version has caused me to have two versions of my gallery on my site.

example.com/page_id=123?g2_itemId=456
example.com/pictures/main.php?g2_itemId=456

the two urls above both point to the same place.

Is there a way to have the wordpress plugin give me urls like i used to get? this is causing me duplicate content problems. also, users don't see a login button unless they use the "old" way, and i have some users that just use the site as a logged-in member for the pictures - and they can't see how to log in anymore.

thanks!

Not sure I fully understand your situation, I think you are saying you have 2 wp pages showing on your home page that link to wpg2, if so, just go to your wp admin (dashboard) / manage / pages and unpublish the one you dont want.

If you post a link to your site we can have a look....

After updating WP to 2.6 I had to reconfigure wpg2, ie go to wp admin / wpg2 / activate gallery2rewrites, etc. Also check your permalinks settings

Let us know how you get on ?

Cheers

I had g2 installed.
I had old wordpress installed.
I upgraded WP to 2.5 & WPG3.

I had urls like this:

http://www.urbanpug.com/pictures/main.php?g2_itemId=2855

Now i get URLS like this:

http://www.urbanpug.com/?page_id=378&g2_itemId=2855

The problem is that lots of stuff linked to the old way, and now, once there's one link into g2 the new way, all the links inside are the "new way" -- thus, i have two full sets of G2 -- all duplicate content.

Thanks for the extra info.

Simple work around:
Go to your wp Dashbourd (wp-admin) click the Manage tab and then the Page tab.
Click the page title of Pug Pictures to edit this (wpg2) page.
Then click the edit link that is located one line bellow the page title, to the right of Permalink:
in the box type " pictures " with out the quotation marks! click save next to the permalink you just changed and then save in the Publish status block on the right hand side side bar.

Refresh your home page and check to see if this solves the problem for you ?

PS. this should give you the url path you are after, not certain if it will fix the gallery2 log in link, so check for this. WPG2 embeds gallery so that you log into gallery via word press, if the link is not there and you only want uses to have access to gallery and not wp, we can custom a log in link to suit.

Just to clarify OzDamian excellent post, you will need to have Wordpress Permalinks active to use this feature..
