Recently, when I upload images from local machine either using upload applet or Gallery Remote (1.5.1 build 36 and 37) the thumbs have a strange (IR like ) colour. Have resize to 800px but this makes no differnce. Don't know why it is suddenly doing that and can't get around it. Also can't find anything in forum. Using the 'Add item' from web browser works but that is only good for a limited number of images and I want to upload about 30-40 at a time. Gallery info dump: Gallery version = 2.2.4 core 1.2.0.6 See last 5 images at: http://www.condor-consulting.com/mendham/joomla/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=2520&g2_enterAlbum=1 Help appreciated and thanks in advance. Hey Colin,
this problem is known, i answered in the last post. It is a wrong ColorModel used in the java-style resize method. I hope someone will fix this soon... if not, feel free to contact me, i'll send you the bugfixed version.
Cheers,
Mat

Not sure I understand at this stage but have PM'd you and will implement fix and post conclusion here. Don't undertsnad why it was working OK (used Gallery Remote for ages) and then suddenly starts doing this.

Sorry for the delay, I just answered you by PM. Even though I'm pretty optimistic that my version is perfectly fine, I wanna stress that I am NOT an official developer here and obviously dont give any guarantees regarding correctness.
Anyhow, it fixed the issue for me by changing 2 LOC... should be fine. Have tested it on several different gallery2 installations, no problems.

Solution found.
Image Magic wasn't activated. I thought I was using NetPBM for image management but as soon as I activated ImageMagic I was able to upload images with Gallery remote. Simple when you know.
Thanks all especially for the patience of maT42.

How was it solved specifically?
I have both netpbm and imagemagick installed in the server. I switched to IM as the default.

I have the same problem. What I access the G2 from one of my PCs it uploads perfect images, when I upload it from another it is total rubbish. This only happens when the applet handles the compression of images. I noticed that on on the 'good' PC I have an older version of Java Runtime (1.5), whereas the 'bad' one has the most recent update version 1.6. Does it make the difference? I have no imagemagick installed on the server but NetPBM and GD2 are working just fine. It is definitely the Java problem!

By the way, it seems that the problem occurs when the Upload Applet converts my RGB images to CMYK. The conversion must have happened automatically because there is no option in the applet to control it.

Installing Image Magic and Gallery Remote (on the client machine - not the server) seems to have fixed the problem. Interestingly, during installation Gallery Remote nominated Java 1.5 as its preferred Java version to work with (and not Java 1.6 which is also available on the system).

I have a slightly more subtle problem. I am using GD and I notice that the resized images are somewhat less saturated or flatter than the originals. Not dramatic but the resized images are a bit washed out. I have tried uploading images with srgb and adobe rgb 1998 profiles. No difference.
