Hello; I asked about this earlier and didn't get a reply at all, but I have some better information now. Gallery 2 and the WPG2 Plug-In are running on the site http://goontheroad.com What I need is to be able to make the thumbnails in the widget on the right side of the site (at the bottom of the right-hand sidebar) link to the post they are associated with instead of linking directly to the gallery or a full-size or thumbnail image. I'm wondering if there is a plug-in or hack to help make this happen or something else I can do. (Or if there is something else I am missing that will achieve this functionality.) Sorry, but no, there is no way to do that with the current widget. We use Gallery2's imageblock function to create the images, and all it knows how to do is link to the gallery.
In a future version, when we replace Gallery2's imageblock function with our own function, we could do something like that. But that won't be any time soon, so it won't help you now.
You could just hard code a table of images with the img tag being the same as the thumbnail in the post and the href being the permalink of the post. But you'd have to hand code each change. Automating that would be tricky now, since you'd have to scrape each post and get any thumbnails for the table and then create a link to the post's permalink. Not impossible, but not at all close to what we have now.

Thank you very much for the reply, Kirk. It would be a nice functionality to have, but I understand if it wasn't meant to work that way. Now I don't feel so bad that I wasn't able to make it work! I was afraid I was being dense or something.
It is a very nice plug-in. Thanks again for the reply.

We have on our radar the ability to link photos and posts together, not sure what release it will be added as the Gallery2 tag module is not quite ready yet for productive use.
