New Items Module

I have the new items module installed and really like it but wanted to ask for an improvement or advice on how I can do this myself. The button is nice but it blends in too much with the background. Is there a way to change the button color to something like red with black lettering? This would help it to stand out so people could notice much more easily that new itmes have been added. Thanks.

The 'button' is not really a button but some formatted text. The formating can be changed with CSS.
Use the giNew and the giUpdated CSS classes to style the <span> elements.
Use FF and the firebug plugin for help in that regard. If you get stuck post a url.
