I was upgrading my gallery from 2.2.2 to the current 2.2.4 via installatron. Installatron gave a successful upgrade status and shows 2.2.4 now.

Then I hopped over to my gallery and follwed the online procedures and was given
"An error occurred while upgrading Gallery Core Module
Something went wrong when we tried to upgrade the core module. In the boxes below you can find some debug information. Report this in the Gallery Forums and we'll help you diagnose the problem."

Forgive my noobness
here is the phpinfo

and the pdf screen capture of the long error message is attached or you can download from here (they're both the same file)

Can anyone shed some light? thanks a million.

several things went wrong. first, g2 failed to correctly detect your gallery version and defaulted to the oldest known version which gallery 2.0 alpha 3.

do you have a backup of your database?

in future, please attack the upgrade log file(s) which are located in your g2data folder. PDFs aren't great for this purpose.

1.

> do you have a backup of your database?

2. aren't there more upgrade logs?

3. isn't there a versions.dat file in your g2data folder? is it empty?

1. yes i do have a backup of my database.
2. there were 4 upgrade logs in total, each time stamped on the times I tried to upgrade gallery, so I just uploaded the most recent one, i have attached all the log files I can find in the g2data folder, (4 total)
3 yes there is a versions.dat in the g2data and it is empty (0 byte file).

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out. I appreciate it greatly.

please identify your core version and then rebuild your versions.dat file accordingly.
see "documentation -> administration & maintenance -> how to restore from a backup" for details on versions.dat.

from your upgrade logs:
- i assume your currently installed core module version is 1.2.0.4. but please verify this with the instructions from the above mentioned article.

> File integrity: There are missing/modified files!

never upgrade if you see this warning. see: FAQ: What about the warning for missing & modified files in the installer & upgrader?

> 2008-03-15 11:07:01 [TMP_SESSION_ID_DI_NOISSES_PMT] Error: Can't write to versions file

this explains why the versions.dat file is empty now. there was some problem writing it in a previous upgrade attempt.

i suggest you:
1. backup your current state of the database
2. restore your previous backup from before your upgrade attempt from March 15th 11 AM.
3. manually restore versions.dat as instructed above. and ensure that versions.dat is writeable for the webserver.
4. try to run the upgrade wizard again.
