WPG2 3.0.2
Gallery2 2.4
WP 2.2.1 (theme: Japanese Cherry Blossom a mod of hemingway reloaded)

i got gallery2 installed and running and got my first album up with pictures! yay. i got WPG installed and validated finally (had to download and activate a few gal2 plugins). clicked view site (from the wpg2 page in wp-admin) i see a random image from my album and my 1 album! yay.

now i figure i'll make it look the way i want and not just my header above a black and grey gallery2 blob and then a very slimmed down footer. i searched a bunch of forums to see how to do this and i found a ton of different answers. i started small and changed the width in the WPG2 Output page to see if i was in the right place, no change. searched more forums and found a promising post and went about adding the WordpressEmbedded theme to gal2 and set it as default, new look going directly to gal2 URL no change via WPG2. copyied the header.php page and created wpg2header.php, made some changes to this new file and went into the main style sheet and made some changes there, still no change. searched more forums and am not finding anything that can help me. i've RTFM but duh........ can someone show me the light?

i want it to look (consistant with my site) like what i have seen screenshots of, a page with thumbnails for albums linked to a page with thumbnails of the pictures in the album linked to lightbox. i want the images to float: left in the same area the content of a post would be in if it were a normal blog post. i want the header to remain (and i totally understand if i need to make a modified one i.e. wpg2header.php) i want the "sidebar" (in quotes because it sits horizontally below the content) and i want the footer.

i don't understand why i change stuff (css, php, WPG2 preferences) and nothing changes on the site itself!

once i get it looking the way i want how do i link to it? i would have thought that i would have created a page in WP Manage>pages so it would show up in the pages link directory. last question... is this going to work the way i had hoped? i was hoping to be able to just upload a folder of images, something (gallery2 or WPG2) would look and see that there was a new folder of images and create a new album with the same name as the folder, put this new album on the album page linked to the page with all the images in the album linked to lightbox and everything be right in the world.

ok i got it working...

apparently wpg2 3.0 works nothing like the previous versions. there is no more wp-gallery2.php. most everything you need to do is in the WPG2 section in WP. i ended up keeping the simple header and changing out the .g2... class call and inserting classes that were already in my WP theme. it did break my sidebar though (which again is below my content) so i ended up creating a wpg2footer.php and copied everything from sidebar.php and added it to the beginning of the wpg2footer. oh and i had to add a 2 more div close tags.

Well done. I am in the process of trying to reorganising this forum to see if we can attract some more CSS help as noone is around to help out with CSS forum posting..

that would be nice because now that i have the basics up and running i am now running into another issue now...

p.s. where exactly would i go to change the css for wpg2 content? i like the theme i am running through gallery2 but everything breaks once it comes through wpg2... at this point i don't even care if i get lightbox working.
