Gallery version: 1.5
Apache version: 1.3.37 (Unix)
PHP version: 8.1
Graphics Toolkit: NeTBPM
Operating system: Vista/XP

I'm having an issue with all my users loging into gallery.
Basically IE seems to accept the password and username but does not login correctly (The login menu remains on the screen after username and password has been entered).
This does not seem to be an issue with FireFox though.
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem.

Hello,

I am confused about your infos.
You say that your apache is a Unix version, but the OS is Vista AND XP?
The newest PHP is 5.2.5, how can you run Version 8.1?

About your problem...
Can you tell us the URL to your Gallery?

Sorry...

I thought it was asking about the users OS.
My server is Unix.
I'm running PHP Nuke 8.1

Hmm, okay.

Can you make me a testacount and send the info to me via PM?

Also, which version of PHP do you use? PHP5 ?
PHP5 is fully supported by Gallery 1.5.3 and newer, you have only 1.5.
But this should affect every browser, not only IE. Strange.

I also did not test gallery 1.5 with phpNuke 8.x
But this should also not affect ..

Are you sure this is not a caching issue? Or a cookies?

I just upgraded to Gallery 1.5.7 and now all browser issues have been resolved. :|
Very odd... as you said, why would the problem affect just one browser.
I don't think it was a cookie or cashing issue as multiple users were experiencing the same thing.

Sorry to waste your time.
I do appreciate the quick responses.

You did not waste my time.

Glad you got it working.
If you have ideas for Gallery 1... let me know.

Well, my mistake it does still appear to be an issue.
Seems to work fine on IE 6 now but IE 7 will not let me logon as admin or a regular user.

I have created an account for you and PM'd you the info if you are still interested in trying to resolve this problem.

Thanks again

I've having this same issue in IE 6+ as well. Works fine in Firefox and Chrome.

I've gone through the FAQ on this issue and confirmed everything listed there is as it should be.

http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery1:FAQ#When_I_try_to_click_on_the_.22login.22_link_on_the_Gallery_page.2C_nothing_happens_.28no_window_pops_up.29._What.27s_wrong.3F

I've upgraded to the latest stable (1.5.8) with no luck. I've cleared all cache, cookies, etc. No luck.

It just seemed to have started recently -- wondering if there's a different connection to something not covered?

Anyone know if 1.5.9 addresses this issue?

Thanks!

Hello,

do you have any IE extensions? Or for example the Google Toolbar?
You should upgrade to 1.5.9 anyway as 1.5.8 was my worst release.

Hi,

No extensions. Stock IE6 and IE7 installs. Others have confirmed the same from their pc which is how I first discovered it.

I can try 1.5.9 to see what happens.

If that doesn't work, is it possible to upgrade from 1.x to 2.x? (seems like that's not an option from what I've seen)

Thanks!

Hello Charlotte,

You can not upgrade, but you can migrate.

I am sorry that i have no solution for you IE problem.
It seems not to be Gallery 1.x related and i am not possible to reprodice it :-(

I'm not sure how we can say that it's not Gallery 1 related because I have exacltly the same problem. I can reproduce it. IE looks like it will log you in but you are not logged in when it refreshes. Firefox and Opera both log you in fine. Also I noticed if I set debug and developer mode to yes it will log me in with a couple of notices and warnings. (Firefox produces the same feedback but seems to igmore it)
>>>>

Warning: session_regenerate_id() [function.session-regenerate-id]: Cannot regenerate session id - headers already sent in /home2/armhoriz/public_html/itsfunto/www/I_Gallery/session.php on line 112

In Dev mode with debug on I also get this notice when viewing albums.
>>>>>>>
Notice: Only variable references should be returned by reference in /home2/armhoriz/public_html/itsfunto/www/I_Gallery/classes/Album.php on line 202
>>>>>>>>

I have IE set to accept all cookies and all session cookies but I added my domain to the site list with "always allow" and it worked for a few logins then stopped again, I didn't change anything but MS may have, its hard to tell sometimes. It's sounds session related. Do you have any insight into these messages?

Hope you can help us.Thanks all.

Al

Hi,

i am sorry to say that, but i have no ideas :-(

@armathews: maybe you screwed an upgrade? As my line 202 in classes/Album.php is empty.
