I think it would be useful to store the location of the original file being uploaded. This would include the volume name for those of us who burn the images to CD before uploading, this way I would know which CD contains the original image.
I think could be used to offer a neat feature: allow web users to download or get printed the full-size originals rather than the smaller ones uploaded to the net and this would become especially important once the upload process gives the option to send up smaller resolution images.
I am thinking that Gallery could be modified with a shopping basket to allow a viewer to select which of the images on the web he or she wants to have the originals of; when the gallery owner reconnects with Gallery Remote, a process could collect the full-size images into a zip file, and upload to make the resulting full-size images available for download to the users machine or upload to a printing service such as shutterfly.
The getting of the full-size originals would be got using a Fetch module in GalleryRemote. This would download the list of file+volume refs and prompt the owner to load the CDs that contains the originals.
Therefore, the volume names would be useful regardless of whether the Fetch module was built.

This is a good suggestion. However, I don't think there is a place in G1 to store such meta-information. In G2, we can create lots of different meta-info, and then may be the time to add this feature.
Do you agree?
