build thumbnails in advance, not on-the-fly during first page view

Hi

I recently upgraded G1 to G2. This went fine except that the thumbnails take a long time to load the first time you view a page. If I understand it correctly, this is an inherent 'feature' of G2 (thumnails get compiled on-the-fly)? However, I don't like that my visitors have to wait the first time so long.

Is it possible that all the thumbnails get build in advance? I assumed that running the Rebuild Thumbnails (Maintance) command would do this, but it doesn't. Also during importing the pictures from G1 I ticked the option "make thumbnails".

I know I can just click/visit an album my self, and the thumbnails will get created at that moment, but I have hundreds of albums so don't want to do this manually. Also tried a webcrawler without succes.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.
