First off I want to say you've done a great job with this software. Thanks very much!

1. I've got several G2 albums that have all permissions removed: they can't be viewed in G2 by visitors, you have to log into G2 to see them. But the WPG2 sidebar grid block still displays images contained in them to anyone who views the WordPress blog. Is this correct behaviour or am I doing something wrong?

If not, is altering it something that might be considered for a future version?

2. When I specify, say, four images to be used for the sidebar gridblock, WPG2 often chooses the same image twice, which looks very amateurish. Am I doing anything incorrectly?

3. Is there a way to have WPG2 display the G2 photo captions? The SB gridblock admin panel has an option to use the "Heading," but not "Description"? This would make sidebar photos far more interesting for visitors.

To be honest, we haven't done a whole lot of testing with different permissions. (We were just happy to get the darn rewrites working finally...) It is definitely a possibility for a future version. It will be a fairly easy change. We'll just need to test it with a bunch of different ways to make sure it doesn't break the sidebar with some obscure permissions setting.

I haven't seen that a lot, but it doesn't surprise me that it does happen. The random generator in the ImageBlock module must must not have a check for previously used images. We can add a check for that on our end. We're not currently storing the image info, but it will be very easy in 3.1 when we're not using ImageBlock any more (see my next reply...)

Not in this version. In the 3.1 we're going to get rid of our dependence on the ImageBlock module, which is limiting us right now. Then we'll be able to do very customized HTML using all of the information in G2. The only limit will be our imaginations, not the current ImageBlock limitations.

That'd be very useful. As a further suggestion it would also be useful to be able to filter and limit which albums/child albums are recently/randomly used on a particular page. For example, if I make a web page about XYZ I'd like to limit the side bar photos chosen for that page to those in the XYZ photo album and it's children.

Thanks for the reply and keep up the good work.

Actually you can do that now.. In your Gallery2 Album Settings, tick the Prevent this album from being displayed in the Image Block

What I'm suggesting is being able to specify a particular album for each page. So for example, only bicycling album photos are on the Wordpress page about bicycling and only furniture photos on the furniture page.

Maybe easier said than done.

I seen a mod to do this, however I have not tested this but it looks interesting
