Mass Import from folders

I have around 80-90 folders with around 20-30 pics in each of them on a server on the intranet. I would like to show these pictures on Gallery2 and keep the pictures in the original server and not have to bring it to my webserver. Can this be done and is it ok? Also, Can i use the folder name and picture names as tags while importing? Any professional advice will be very helpful. |

short answer: no.
long answer: if your concern is disk space, then you could use symlinks.
g2 manages all its media in a managed storage folder with the default name g2data. it stores all original files in g2data/albums/.
when adding images to g2, it copies the files into that albums/ folder.
when using the "add items -> from local server" method, g2 provides a "use symlinks" option. if enabled, it doesn't copy the files but adds a symlink for each file.
