I get this problem: and I know I have to change the CHMOD to 777 (because I had to do that to fix my config.php error) but the problem is when I upload my blank .htaccess file it says "successful" on CUTEFTP but the file doesn't show. Is it a hidden file type? If so how do I get it to show or how else can I change the CHMOD? All my system info can be found on my PHP test page, hopefully it's okay to show you this instead of rewriting it all: http://thatpause.com/test.php |

Some hosts choose to keep .* files hidden or maybe its a setting in cuteFTP that your overlooking,I am not familiar with cuteFTP...click on my webhosting link below and go to my software section and download smartFTP....That is what I recommend to my users as its a pretty user friendly app.....I hope this helps

Hm.. I really like my cuteFTP, so I'd really just like to find a way to show the file. If I can't get it to work I will try out smartFTP =)

Figured it out incase anyone else has this problem:
in CuteFTP go to edit > filter
check enable remote filters, in the box that "highlights" input -rtaF
