Migration problem - Codex, migration plugin, etc

Followed this http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:migration

"Ensure that the Plugin Migration is installed. If it is missing go to --> plugins --> get more plugins -> Migration --> and download this plugin."

I get "Error downloading index from 'http://gallery.menalto.com/repository/released/index'.
Please make sure that your internet connection is set up properly or try again later." for the past 30 mins. Ping from ym web server to any Internet domain including the above, no problems.

Anyway, googled for it and found http://www.absolve.com/Gallery2Download%20-%20Gallery2%20Codex.htm

Downloaded the migration module manually and ftp-ed it to the modules dir but get:

Migrate your Gallery 1 albums to Gallery 2
Incompatible plugin!
Core API Required: 6.0 (available: 7.18)
Plugin API Required: 2.0 (available: 3.5)

ideas anyone?
