There's 'install' and 'upgrade', what about a 'repair' directory? And first thing it could do is detect if there's a problem with your gallery. Have the option to deactivate (and maybe also uninstall) all modules. For those of us stupid enough to move our directories or rename them with the rewrite module on.

there's lib/support/.
but there's no integrity check there. there's a integrity check module though, but that's not too helpful yet and even less so if you can't access site admin.

yes, we'll work on better maintenance / repair tools, help is appreciated.

I've lost my gallery about twice now, because of user error (on my part) and having the permalinks/rewrite mod on. If there was something in lib/support that would disable all modules, I wonder if that would have helped. Then again, I couldn't access anything of my gallery, so who's to say I'd be able to even access the support directory, you know? I've just finally reinstated my gallery for hopefully the last time, and now I'm nervous as heck about the permalinks/rewrite. It's just really nice to have rewritten links in the URL bar, makes things easier to access and remember.

losing a gallery because of rewrite / permalinks?
those modules can't destroy your gallery. they can render your gallery inaccessible, but you can easily recover from that.
e.g. FAQ: Images don't show up and the album / photo links don't work, what can I do?

Wish I'd known of that before I had to start over... Is there anyway I can import all the tables of my old database into the new one, use the g2data, and get my old gallery back?

see:
docs -> maintenance -> restoring from a backup.

you can't mix tables from one installation with another. it's either a full replacement of all tables + g2data or nothing at all.

I didn't mean integrate, I meant replace. I found the documentation on it though, imported the old tables, used the old g2data, and got my gallery back.
