3 questions. Upgrade, Reinstall, and Automatically apply permissions to added folders.

1. I was wondering what exactly the upgrade script does.

Because it did not appear to upgrade anything automatically. I assume it is because of modified files. It did not say so specifically. But I know it can terminate due to oddities.

2. And my Web host offers automatic installs of Gallery with their own upgrades and whatnot, so I wanted to basically kill my install and let them do it.

I was wondering besides what I read in the FAQ if there are any pitfalls I should be aware of? (Blackjack, 2.1.1 to the latest stable.)

3. And is it possible to have all added folders have a certain permission from the start?

Currently, my domain.com/ is the actual gallery. Then you click on albums from there. All of those albums have to have the "Everybody" permission removed so that it has ONLY the register and admin users. It has been AGES since I had to do any real administration of Gallery, so I have become a little distant on the documentation, but did not see anything glancing quickly through everything.

Is this possible?

Since I am several versions behind I hope to kill a few birds with one stone so to speak.
