1) All this module does is integrate Gallery 2 with ZenCart. You may want to investigate each one of the two programs a bit to find out what exactly they can achieve. With both working together, it is indeed possible to have a setup where people upload their own images to your gallery, then order prints of those images from you and then pay you for the privilege.

2) I do not know of any demos with a similar scenario you speak off and would love to meet whoever manages to pull it off

: )

On a serious note, assuming you run a print shop where you want customers to upload images which you then print and send to them, It is possible in theory but will need some further modifications to the module. As things stand, anyone will be able to order prints of any images on the system. If that does not represent a barrier to you, then I suppose you can proceed.

I doubt if there are any demos but check the Zencart Site out for further info.

Thanks Dayo.

If customers set their images to private in gallery will this module forbid others to see/order other's private photos?

The module does not forbid or control any thing of this nature, it simply links G2 and ZC.

If an album is restricted in G2, then G2 will stop others viewing them. However users will still be able to see the images in ZC if they are familiar with ZC.

Remember we are dealing with two separate programs. G2 already has a means to restrict access to albums and what you need to find out is whether ZC also has a means to restrict access. I doubt this but the best place to ask about this is on the ZC Forum.

Hi all,

Am new to the realm of Gallery 2 and it's great to see this bridge. Kudos to all involved!
:)

I'm intending to use Zen Cart to allow Gallery 2 users to purchase additional gallery quota (I can't find a quota purchase module anywhere)
This means my requirements are slightly less complex than what's on offer in the current bridge module. I just want registered (logged in) Gallery 2 users to automatically login to Zen Cart so they can use their account details to purchase a new quota, none of that funky image transfer stuff (at the moment anyway).

Here's my question(s):
Is this possible with this module? That is can I configure it just to log the user into Zen Cart with their Gallery 2 credentials?
Or, will I'll have to disable the image to cart transfer functions myself? (Am fine working with PHP)
Or, is there a simpler Zen Cart logon bridge somewhere else that I should use?
Or, is there a quota management/purchase module somewhere thats suited to my needs?

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks in advance.
Steve

Zencart and this module may not be the right tools for what you want. I'll suggest taking a look at the Checkout Module instead.

In the event that you prefer to use Zencart, then

1) Users cannot login with their G2 credentials. They will have to log in separately in Zencart.
2) You will have to disable the image transfer functions yourself
3) I do not think there is a logon bridge
4) I am not aware of a quota management module. Best thing is to start a thread asking the question.

hi!
i've been trying to configure the plugin but i just can't.
i've installed everything just like it appeared in the plugin instructions.
i've tryed it on my own "test" server with ubuntu (apache2, php5, mysql5) latest gallery version and zencart versions 1.3.7 and 1.3.8.
and also in my hosting server (apache 1.3.37, php 4.4.3, mysql 4.1.12) and i get the same error.

zencart is installed within gallery2 folder just as in the instructions.

the error is that when i try to enter the zencart path (i tryed relative and absolute paths) when i click SAVE, it takes me to a blank page (www.domain.com/gallery/main.php) and it stays there BLANK.

any suggestions??
i've tryed many fresh installs but with no success.
is it me doing something wrong, o is there a bug with this plugin??

thanks for your time

Thanks - sorry for that - can't believe I missed that bit in the instructions. I applied the upgrade as per the instructions in the readme.txt and now have the descriptions in Zen Cart but I have another issue.

In G2 admin under modules, I am showing Zen Cart as Installed: 3.0.2 Version: 3.1.1 but under Actions the links to "activate" / "deactivate" , "uninstall" etc are not there. All that is under actions is "upgrade" and clicking that link does nothing.

I re-copied the 3.0.2 files and all went back to normal. I then re-applied the upgrade files and just get the "upgrade" link that does nothing. This means that I cannot activate the module.

What have I missed this time please?

Thanks

Mike

It appears some bugs were introduced in the changes between Version 3.0.2 and 3.1.0. Those changes have been removed for the time being until the code can be audited.

Please apply the upgrade to Version 3.1.2 which essentially represents a jump from 3.0.2 to 3.1.1 and bypasses 3.1.0.

Been away over xmas but I just checked out your site and it is not quite working the way it should be working.

As for which version of ZC the module was made for, well it is in the title of this post which is 1.3.7. However, I do not think there should be major issues with 1.3.8 although I have not tested that version. - EDIT: UPDATED FOR 1.3.8a

What versions have you got installed, How much edits have you done to what you have and what issues did you experience with the original installation?

I just discovered Zencart (1.3.8a Database Patch Level: 1.3.8) and am trying to get the G2 module (v 3.1.2) to work. I get to the Actvate step in G2 Site Admin Plugins and when I click, I get the green highlight bar (I am using the Xtreme theme with black color pack), but, nothing happens. My Zencart is installed outside of the G2 directory, but, I set the path correctly and the setup gave me my catagory in Zencart to select.

Thanks

Bob

First off.. Thanks for the great work - i sell photo's from my wesite, and the zencart route seems the mature way to go

I have a couple of "usability observations"

As a working photographer I can drop in 1000's of images at once using gallery remote, and the bridge prices them on the way through to zencart(wickedly cool). Adjusting the prices and options in the bridge is a royal pain in the butt. Setting the pricing once is fine, changing them causes all sorts of issues (as each change is seen as a new set of attributes in zencart)

What would be really great if instead of dropping the images into 1 catagory, we could choose catagories in zencart, or if if the catagories automatically mirrored the folder/album structure in gallery. This would make subsequent price changes a whole lot easier (from the zencart end). This would also make differentail pricing much easier

I will illustrate my situation to explain what i mean

Proofing = no pricing, but a cart or commenting system would be the best bet
Normal wedding = priced with attributes (mask?) on the way through
Portrait session = totally different products and pricing mask
Stock downloads = totally different pricing mask
Fine Art = totally different pricing structure, and also limited amounts of products for sale

All of these things are achievable in zenncart, but because they are priced on attributes only, changing them is a very one by one timeconsuming exercise

In terms of the templates - I re-wrote a zencart templates to match G2, which is a lot of work, but reltivly simple. A return to gallery link is an easy addition (to the zencart breadcrumb). In a month or so I will be re-writing the headers for both the zencart and G2 to make a total site integration
____

Again I would say that the work done so far is fantastic, and is a credit to the contributors

Cheers

I think what you want should be possible with the existing setup.

You should be able to create albums in G2 as Proofing, Weddings, Portraits, Stock, Fine Art etc and apply the pricing and other attributes to items in those albums in bulk.

All the best!

PS. The return to gallery link has already been implemented.

Any ideas how..? certainly I can edit them one by one in zecart, but in bulk seems to be elluding me

If you know how to make zencart organise the photos in groups, rather than dumping them in 1 catagory, that would be swell too

There is an option to edit one item and then apply the edits to all items in a sub category. I can't recall the steps off the top of my head and you may want to visit the ZC site to find out more. You can also try EasyPopulatePro or EasyPopulateFree. You could also run SQL on your DB if you know how to.

Every thing goes into one category but you can organise things in G2 by having a relevant album structure. The problem you will probably face will be how to control access in ZC. This ZC contribution should help.

Advice is to go to ZC site as well and ask some questions there.

Guys this is a grat module and learning as i go. I am currently testing and playing for a while to get my head around all this stuff.

I am no phper but getting there. I posted this on the worng thread re an issue with the zen cart module.
Hi

I am using thr latest g2 with the latst zencart module. I am uding the PGCharcoaltheme
( which is fantastic) Also i receive this when i add a nitem to the cart. this is defined in g2, but what is causing the error msg

Low-Res images: ATTRIBUTES_PRICE_DELIMITER_PREFIX+$15.00ATTRIBUTES_PRICE_DELIMITER_SUFFIX
Hi-Res images: ATTRIBUTES_PRICE_DELIMITER_PREFIX+$25.00ATTRIBUTES_PRICE_DELIMITER_SUFFIX

This is the fix i found
It sorta fixed it. in g2 i have it defined with drop down
but it displays as a radio button?

Is this the correct procedure for this fix ?? I think maybe not as i don't find any other posts re this problem?

fixed adding this lines to the "includes/languages/english.php " file
define('ATTRIBUTES_PRICE_DELIMITER_PREFIX', ' ( ');
define('ATTRIBUTES_PRICE_DELIMITER_SUFFIX', ' )');
define('ATTRIBUTES_WEIGHT_DELIMITER_PREFIX', ' (');
define('ATTRIBUTES_WEIGHT_DELIMITER_SUFFIX', ') ');

cheers

The issue is due to changes in the current Version of ZC (V1.3.8a) from the one the module was based on (V1.3.7).
The fix should work (I haven't tested that particular fix and addressed the issue in another way) but please note that a new version of the theme (V3.2.0) which fixes this as well as other incompatibilities will be made available later today.

The templates included have also been significantly refined. You can see one at work on my site with a showcase store.

Check the download link after 2000 GMT.

BYT i did mention this in another thread but think it beeta here !!

This is a great bit of code and what ive been looking for and all involved are doing a good job.

Look forward to running the new versions. It would be nice to have the ability to understand php and to right your own modules, but when i look at php its like an accountant looking at engineering !!

Thanks for the quick reply

Hi Dayo,

Remember me? You wrote awhile back letting me know about your new zencart/g2 bridge & templates.
Well I am finally getting around to setting them up.
Brilliant work.!!!! Thanks for the work, and thanks for letting me know about it.
I am first setting it up on my kevinlogan.com site, then I will attempt updating my
windowstoireland.com site (worried a bit about maintaing Data Base).
I had a bit of trouble getting the icon working again, until I finally found that if I don't
give "view cart" permissions it doesn't show up on the items (photo actions) drop down menu.
I have a rather lame working method of having the cart icon associated with ZenCart, but it works.
I can't have active any other modules that might use the drop menu (Photo Actions) in Guest view anyway,
and then I edited (by someone's advice, perhaps yours, can't remember) the theme css:
/*************Add ZENCART SHOPPING CART ICON**************/

.gbLink-zencart_PurchaseOptions {

background: url(/gallery2/themes/PGtheme/images/set1/add_cart.gif) left center no-repeat !important;

}

Works, but lame I reckon.
Sample: http://kevinlogan.com/gallery2/v/still_life/002.jpg.html?g2_enterAlbum=0
Of course I need to redo the Cart Icon.
Also, this time in the bridge, on the G2 side, I am only having one "product" with only one value. Then every "product" will NOT be priced by attributes in ZC, and I will setup my product prices etc, in ZenCart. That's the plan anyway.
I find it very much a pain in the neck to make a whole bunch of product values on the G2 side. For example in my WindowsToIreland.com site I have multiple artists with different prices, etc. Every time I uplaod a new photo to MY portion of the site, I have to delete all the inappropriate prices from my photos. Get what I mean.
So I reckon I will try the new approach on my KevinLogan.com site. Probably 6 or 1/2 dozen the other situation.
Undecided how I will handle it on my exisitng site, i.e. try to upgrade, or start fresh with a new install of ZC 1.3.x and your (Chucks?) bridge update & your new templates,,,LOVE the all around return back to G2,,,really well done. Going to try editing the templates today.
Anyway, I thought I would at LEAST take the time to write you, and thank you personally for all your hard work.

Cheers & all the best,
Kevin

Thanks for that. As you may have gathered im up to my neck in other web work at the moment. when I am done will devote some time to looking at this properly

My hunch is that I will need to write a few pages to access the zencart SQL data and change it in chunks. I would imagine this would be really easy if I was strict with my file names.. i.e. find all entries with name eventXYZ and do this (ABC) to the accociated attributes...

Anyone know where to edit to change the width of the header, in tpl_product_gallery_info_display.php? I am assuming the header wrappers?
I tried editing stylesheet.css (about line 181), but with no effect:
#mainWrapper {
background-color: #ffffff;
text-align: left;
width: 1200px;
vertical-align: top;
border: 1px solid #9a9a9a;
}

I would like to make the width smaller.

Hi Dayo,
Thanks for the info. You are right. But let me share what was causing me trouble, perhaps others are experiencing similar probs.
When I edited "stylesheet.css", no matter what I did, no changes occured. I discovered why. I have a habit of renaming the original file & leaving it on the server. In this case I had a file named stylesheet_ORIGINAL.css.
I don't know if this is an "always thing", but in this instance ZenCart was referring to the original file (although it had a different filename), as well as my edited file. I have since deleted the renamed original file, and now when I make changes to the stylesheet.css file, they actually DO something. Go figure!!!
For example, I now have the mainWrapper set to 98%, so it actually fits on the screen of a 1024 wide laptop (that was actually my goal all along).
Cheers & all the best,
Kevin

Hi Richard

Hereis what i found in my notes.

I just found how to adjst the page width. see belowfrom zen cart forum

How can you set the wrapper function so it is differmet for differnet screens?

You have to make a copy of it from \zen\includes\templates\template_default\css and put the copy in your custom theme folder \zen\includes\templates\YOUR_TEMPLATE\css, creating all the folders too if you haven't already. Then you can change the custom stylesheet and your original one will stay original and you will have a clean copy to study and fall back on if you get stuck changing the custom one.
Then change the width in the #mainWrapper of your new stylesheet and upload it to your new custom directory.

Richard has already found how to change this.

YOUR_TEMPLATE being referred to is something like pgxxx (a custom template) and not a literal template called YOUR_TEMPLATE.

In order words, what should be changed is the stylesheet in pgxxx as Richard has done or better still, create a new custom template based on pgxxx.

PS. Refer to Point 3 in "Then, Install Module Files in ZenCart" in the Codex

This is wahat is displayed
Please Choose:
Hi-Res images: ( +$25.00 ) ( these are radio button but discribe as drop tables in zen cart, and all radio buttons are ticked
Low-Res images: ( +$15.00 )

Has anyone had this? as i am a bit confused ??

Please provide a link to your site, specify which version of Zencart and of the module you are using and list any changes / modifications you may have carried out.

If you use the specified version of Zencart (1.3.8a), the current version of the Module (3.2.x) and follow the detailed instructions in the codex, you should not have this issue.

Dayo and others.

I upgraded my zcart to 1.3.8a and it now works and passes the variables.
To others installing this module, you need to follow the instructions carefully if it doesn't work remove and reinstall.

Glad to hear that.

You might want to hold off doing too much with that version of the module as Version 3.2.1 is due out soon. It has had several minor tweaks (too many to list) and the headline is that users will be able to implement password control of albums and items in Zencart. Lack of such control limits the use of the module for event shooters etc as it stands. In any case, even if the access control is not important, the tweaks should be worth it.

This version of the module is planned to be the last for ZC 1.3.x.

The foot print will be large and it will affect several files.

hi!
i've been trying to configure the plugin but i just can't.
i've installed everything just like it appeared in the plugin instructions.
i've tryed it on my own "test" server with ubuntu (apache2, php5, mysql5) latest gallery version and zencart versions 1.3.7 and 1.3.8.
and also in my hosting server (apache 1.3.37, php 4.4.3, mysql 4.1.12) and i get the same error.

zencart is installed within gallery2 folder just as in the instructions.

the error is that when i try to enter the zencart path (i tryed relative and absolute paths) when i click SAVE, it takes me to a blank page (www.domain.com/gallery/main.php) and it stays there BLANK.

any suggestions??
i've tryed many fresh installs but with no success.
is it me doing something wrong, o is there a bug with this plugin??

thanks for your time

I posted a new topic about this,Sorry for repeating again here, as the problem is same I thought, I might get a quick reply.

hugue's issue was to do with a previous version of the module.

If you can access your server error logs, please filter by "g2_subView=zencart.AdminZenCart" and send to me by PM.

In the meantime, exit G2 Admin and then go back and retry.

PS. Thanks for clearly stating your version numbers. There is nothing more frustrating than references to "the latest version" or worse still, no information on this, when people ask for support.

Hi Dayo

I'm also having a problem getting it to work. I installed the zencart scripts to /home2/actisnet/publich_html/shop - as per the intructions, and set the template without a problem.

Then, I copied the Zencart module for Gallery2 to /home2/actisnet/public_html/modules/zencart & went to my Gallery's Plugin management and can see it there. When I click on configure, and set the path to /home2/actisnet/publich_html/shop and hit save, I also get a blank page.

I've tried this a few times now already.
Gallery 2 - 2.2.2
ZenCart - 1.3.8a
ZenCartModule - 3.2.1

I'll PM you the output from the raw access log file

SoftDux

Thanks for the PM but I was actually looking for output from the error log filtered accordingly.

For those having issues.

1) Is this an upgrade from an earlier version of the module or a first install?
2) If an upgrade, did you install the upgrade patch over an existing version and what version was that?
3) Are you able to get the full version to work?
4) If not, are you able to get Version 3.2.0 to work?

I have 3.2.1 running on my site and can download my files and repost but that will be taking a stab in the dark and I want to try to track down the issue.

Thanks

Sorry, Dayo

This is a new installation.

I'm on a shared cPanel server, so the only way I could get the logs was to download the whole raw access log gile from cPanel & open it in notepad. Is the info suffiecient, or do you need more?

Hello Dayo,

Tried 3 or 4 times, every time same result pointing to gallery2/ main.php with a blank white page result.

Some more details:

# It is first installation not upgrading any earlier module versions.
# not tried with 3.2.0,If you advice I will do that.And I think for that I will have to completely uninstall 3.2.1 and delete it from the system, am I Right?
# since I am testing it on my local host,I think I can access error log file but I don't know where it is (It's path),Sorry I am new here with little experience,Hope you will co-operate with me.Please let me know where can I find the error log file in my system and I will try to do the rest.

Thank you for the help.

AjantaKVS, what server do you run, if you say it's localhost? Are you on Linux, Mac or Windows? The best bet would be to do a search for httpd.conf & open it in any text editor, and then search for error_log, which will tell you where it is.

Most WAMP installations have it in the /logs folder under apache. In Linux it would be under /var/log/apache/error_log. I'm not sure about MAC

I have installed the 3.2.1a as well, and still get the blank screen. Would you be able to check it yourself if I gave you SSH access to the server?

OK.

I have downloaded and rebuilt the module from files tested as working on my site as Version 3.2.1b.

******UPDATE******
V3.2.1b solves the problem determined to have been generated by a Parse Error due to an omission in some experimental code that should have not been in the released version in the first place.

Thanks to SoftDux for helping debug this.

Guys, not to sound stupid, but how to I change it so that I don't have the use the drop down below each photo to add it to the cart? How do I get a "Add to cart" button next to / below each photo? I use the carbon theme.

Also, how do I order the print sizes? I currenly have A5, A4, A3 & A2, but it puts A2 @ the top (due to ASC odering, I presume I need to change it to DESC).

My site is http://www.actionlens.net - you'll see what I mean
