migrating from traditional zip install [v2.1.2] to svn[v2.2.1]

I have a working version of gallery 2 (2.1.2). It was installed using the traditional zipped archive method. For convenience of future upgrades, I would like to migrate to an svn environment (latest - v2.2.1). I've searched and read a bunch of documentation, but haven't found anything that deals with this specific case. Can anyone refer me to any relevent documentation or guides, or briefly describe the process of loading archived data to a fresh install? BTW,I have backed up the database, g2data, and the gallery directory (including config.php) thanks,
