Sort albums by capture date, including sub-albums

We use the sub-album tree a lot (the one present at top-level Gallery). Our family album have one gallery for each "happening", like birthdays etc. But I am not able to sort all sub-albums. It seem to me that the sort function only sort the current album. I would really like to sort the albums by date (e.g. take the first picture date of each sub-album and sort all sub-albums by these dates). If this is hard to do, it would also be nice to be able to manually set a date for the album, so I could still do the sorting afterwards. The goal is of course that they appear correctly, sorted by date, in the sub-album tree.

i am not really sure what you mean.
Can you make an example what Gallery does and what you would like to see ?

e.g. Something like:

Father
\- birthday 20.07.2007
\- thanksgiving 20.05.2009

And which Gallery Version are you using now (exactly, not just "1" :-) )

No my albums dont have dates in them

E.g.

Top-level album (family)
\-Christmas 2004
| \-Mallorca
\-Summer 2004
  \-Bergen June 07
  \-Oslo 20.07.2007

I only have one top level album. All others are new nested albums that are inherited from top-level, making it fool-proof so people do not create new albums (no albums are displayed unless you are logged on using the family account).

Here, I would want to sort at top-level including nested albums, making it date sorted:

Top-level album (family)
\-Summer 2004
| \-Bergen June 07
| \-Oslo 20.07.2007
\-Christmas 2004
  \-Mallorca
