Hey there everybody -

In case you might not be aware, we've put together a Web Hosting Referrals page on the site with a short list of hosts that we've worked with to ensure complete Gallery support.

The link to this page can be found in the left nav bar, under the heading "About Gallery" - or you can link directly fromhere.

Please note that we've simply tested and confirmed that a Gallery install on the listed hosts will automatically detect the necessary binaries and is essentially configured for a seamless hassle-free installation.

If you have any specific experiences you'd like to share, suggestions or any other input, please post them here in the forum, or email me directly.

We will likely add a couple more hosts to the list at some point, but please keep in mind that I've been completely swamped with inquiries - I seem to receive an average of about one per day, so I've already got a very large list of hosts seeking review.

Thanks.

Mike

ICDSoft.com is also fully compatible. Basic installation worked 100%.
On top ICDSoft offers great prices in my opinion and has top notch 24/7 support.

Yes ImageMagick is already installed and is automatically readed by the configuration wizard of Gallery.

a fresh installation can be seen here:

www.responsiveweb.com runs my gallery2 g2, still in alpha stages at www.fobiopatel.com/g2/gallery2

runs without hitch, support helped me locate the snapshots of the latest g2 and got me the newest codebase running.

I have my own web development business and do hosting for friends, family and some of my customers and other users on my servers. I have some users that I have installed Gallery for per their request and assisted them with it. I am also testing the latest development release of Gallery 2 on my website.

I won't post pricing. I would prefer serious inquiries email me directly. But my rates are reasonable and I do help users with Gallery installations as needed. So if you have any questions, email me. There is an email link on my website.

It might be wise to note hosts that definitely do not support Gallery:
Freeservers.com - they have their own restrictions on the exec() command and will not change them for a single user

Globat only offers 8MB of PHP memory, and Gallery2 (i'm not sure about gallery1) requires at least 16MB. I contacted them, and they are unwilling to change this, for whatever reason. In any case, now i'm trying to figure out how i can keep the domain name, and get my refund as quickly as possible.

I started with 1and1 before moving to PowWeb. I only did this for the extra storage and bandwith my gallery needed. I still use 1and1 for my other sites as it offers very good pricing on domain names and has easy to use site management tools. But my point is that 1and1 works with Gallery 1.5

I use Site5.com and they have been working out GREAT! I host G2 at http://photos.bleakgeek.com and I've had no problems at all. I think the PHP memory limit is set to either 32 or 64mb, can't remember which, but at any rate it works great =)

I highly recommend Site5.com for webhosting. Cheap packacges too for a lot of space/bandwidth =)

My site stopped creating suddenly stopped creating thumbnails. I reinstalled and got an error saying the exec() function was not allowed. My host says they don't allow exec() and never did - they say Gallery doesn't need it. Is that correct. I was going to try starting over from scratch - or should I start looking for a new host?

Hi I was wondering if anyone has experience with Cirtex hosting, as I have just moved to them having seen them in the recommended list but it certainly isn't being a smooth transition so far.
they have helped me get gallery working again having migrated from a previous host & and had some serious problems getting it to recognise my imported database etc & but I'm still having problems and even having tried a "one click install" couldn't get their imagmagick or netpbm etc to recognise the paths they say work..

any other experiences with them i would be keen to hear about as at the moment quite keen on using my 30 day get out option and finding some one else..
