The following information is required to get an answer:
Get this information from the PHP diagnostic (in the configuration wizard).
Gallery URL (optional but very useful):
Gallery version:1.5.5-pl1
Apache version: 1.3.37
PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please): 5.2.0
Graphics Toolkit: NETpbm
Operating system: FreeBSD 4.11
Web browser/version (if applicable): Any

I'm not getting errors on the application, although I do see php memory issues in the apache logs

Quote:
[Sat Feb 17 16:23:49 2007] [error] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 104857600 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2073898 bytes) in /home/papaskin/www/stuff/gallery/util.php on line 732

Problem isn't that I can't up the limit in php.ini - but I'm worried because I am already at 60M - I put it up to 200M and still get the errors. How high do I go? (1gb memory in the server)

Now the whole issue is this. No one can upload images to one directory (the large one with over 2000 images). I can't upload, I can't modify - I tried to rename the directory to tell people it was closed - and the screen just comes back blank. I put it in debug mode and I don't think it's giving me good info either.

Removed quote as it was not helping and had to much info in it.

I created a new gallery directory and everything works fine there - the other gallery directories work fine too - even the sub directory of the large directory works fine - just this one directory is not working. I don't mind closing it down and starting new, but I didn't think I had reached a limit - so I'm guessing something may have become corrupt? Is there a way to fix/move/edit just one directory?

Ok, so I got bold and jumped the php memory up to 460M from 60M (200M didn't work) and that was the issue. I'm guessing that directory just took to much power to modify anything. I've modified it so no one will try to post to it - edited the captions so it shows closed and dropped my memory back down to 60M. I will probably split the directory up a bit later and that might help things out. I've been told before that php memory should never have to be that high, but *shrug* it made it work. I'm guessing I'm probably at the break over point that I should consider looking at G2 and using mysql to give it more power eh?

Gallery 1 can use up a lot of memory for folders with lots of images. Gallery 2 shouldn't be as bad about this if memory footprint is a requirement, but memory usage for a small G2 will be higher than for a small G1.
