Joomla integration: how to use URL Rewrite?

Hi everyone,

I'm running Joomla 1.0.12 and Gallery 2.2-RC1 with the 2.0.14 Bridge. Everything about the integration works perfectly, with the exception of the URL Rewriting. I'm using the OpenSEF component for Joomla, and like it a lot.

URL Rewriting works perfectly when using Joomla alone, or G2.2 standalone, but when embedding G2.2 in my Joomla site, I can't make it fly. What am I missing? How must Joomla/G2 be configured to successfully rewrite URLs? I've posted to the OpenSEF forum, too, but no response yet.

Any help is much appreciated!

THanks,
matt

- http://wiki.4theweb.nl/w/Gallery:SEF (not very detailed, slow server)

using the latest joomla integration and g2.2 makes it maybe easier.

if you are using SEF Advance or compatible SEF component, i have a sef_ext.php which makes the rewrite module work when embedded in joomla.

you can download from sjr.greatsouthernwines.com Instructions for use are in the header of the file.

works with g2 rewrite active or not, but prefers g2 rewrite to be active.

you can see it in action at www.canza.cz/photos

Surely the sef_ext.php file has to be referrenced (loaded) from somewhere, just placing it in the directory as in the instructions will not cause it to be run.

How did you gt it to run please?

OK, apparently it is supossed t orun by itself - but just adding this .php file has not changed anything for me, all clicks in gallery2 redirectto the front page (and therefore the content area in myJoomla instll)

GwaiTsi thanx a lot, your sef_ext.php works great!

I have one question, is there a way to rewrite the download-url to the Joomla embedded url too?

My Joomla Gallery2 url is: http://www.sasv.at/gallery
My standalone G2 url is: http://www.sasv.at/gallery2

Currently my download urls look like this: http://www.sasv.at/gallery2/d-3286/hummer09.jpg
Is there a way to change the urls from galler2 to gallery, so I get this url? - http://www.sasv.at/gallery/d-3286/hummer09.jpg

I've tried to get this working on a Joomla 1.0.12 install with Gallery 2.2.3. After following the instructions in the header of the file, the URLs are created but whenever I click on an album, I get redirected back to the main gallery section. There is one part in the instructions I don't quite understand:

"Component should have name in customercc section i.e. 'Gallery2=>photos' especially if installed in default G2 location"

Where is this located? I've looked in the files for the Bridge component and can't find this anywhere.

I explained how it works in the Joomla bridge forum:
