G1 URL (optional):http://www.bonnietarses.com/gallery
G1 version:1.4.4
--
PHP version (e.g. 4.3.11): 4.4.4
PHPInfo Link (see FAQ): (AFAIK this is only for G2)
Webserver (e.g. Apache 1.3.33):1.3.37 (Unix)
Database (e.g. MySql 4.0.11): 4.1.21-standard
Activated toolkits (e.g. NetPbm, GD): I think both NetPbm & ImageMagik
Operating system (e.g. Linux): Linux
Browser (e.g. Firefox 1.0): Firefox 2

OK, so here's the deal. We changed hosts a few months ago. The gallery worked fine so we never noticed until now that there are issues. We can't log in. I've already done all the troubleshooting stuff (had to reset password but still can't get into the site).

I know this is a really old version so I thought I should update it. Then I read the steps which include first updating to 1.5 then migrating to 2. And we need to be able to log in to do it which we cannot do.

I'm open to suggestions. The gallery works great as is, however we can no longer add to it which is clearly an issue. I hope someone can help.

Thanks,
Sheila

is this a question about how to login to g1?

if so, we should move this topic to the g1 forums since there's all expertise about g1 troubleshooting, g1.x -> g1.5 upgrading etc.

No, it's not about logging into 1. I know how to reset the password and that failed. My question is, is there any way for me to migrate to 2 given that I can't log into 1? I need to preserve my albums. Can I install a new install of 2 and use my old albums? I read the migration instructions and they require me to do things I cannot do since I cannot log in. I need a functional version of Gallery and I'm at an impass. I suppose I could cross post there, or an admin could move this if it's really better in the g1 forums. I'd like to migrate to g2 but can't figure out how since I can't log into g1.

you can just try to do it.

if it doesn't work, you know where to start digging. a fully working g1 surely helps to minimize the risk that the import of g1 data into g2 fails.

g2 doesn't harm your g1 albums / data when it tries to import that data.
