I can't get my Gallery to "Build thumbs/resizes" - it starts and the progress bar only get's to a 1/4 of the way and then stops, I have left it for a long time but it still doesn't move. What could be the cause of this?

I'm running it because the gallery thumbs are different images than when you click on them if that makes sense.

Hope someone can help...

- if you're using gd, please disable that module.
- ensure your gallery has enough memory (php memory setting).
- check your apache error log, maybe there's something.

FAQ: I get only a blank screen when trying to view my Gallery, what's wrong?

FAQ: Thumbnails / resized images don't get generated properly, how can it be fixed?

Hey Valiant, thanks for the speedy help, I installed netpbm with no issues, but I can't seem to get jhead to work, I downloaded the binary (saved it with no extension just "jhead") but it doesn't work, I called my host and they said they will not allow any executable files to run on my shared server. Any ideas? I downloaded:

Pre-built Linux executable (built on RedHat 9.0)

and

Pre-built freebsd executable

I tried to get the statically linked version of jhead 2.3 but I can't save it, when I click to download it the page just refreshes...

Hope you can help a n00b out once again...

you don't need jhead. it's optional.

what exact link did you try? did you try to follow it too?

The link for the static version was http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Downloads:jhead

It works fine without jhead, I am new to all this imaging stuff, sorry to be irritating with the basics.

Not sure what the deal is, but I was having the same problem after I switched the Helper Processes under the site admin/general to low priority - It would not regenerate the thumbnails. I switched back to High Priority and all works fine.
