if there's nothing official and no related module or hack at documentation -> user contributions, then the answer is probably no.

I have an Anime Avatar database using Gallery 2 as the engine. I think Gallery 2 works fine for this type of setup. We have over 10k images in the database. You can check out a typical single avatar view here. It's setup to swap between standard avatar sizes. 60x60 up to 120x120 (if available). Using the carbon theme.

The large downfall is that resized animated gif's are no longer animated. Which wouldn't be a problem necessarily for some people.

which image toolkit are you using (which is the primary one for gifs)?
i guess imagemagick should be able to keep the animations in resized images.

I think this guy wants avatars for users, so that stick with the comment. Not just a avatar gallery. Dont know how to do it though :)

(BTW, nice gallery, too bad it is mainly new anime. What about the older stuff like the Gundam 0079 series? :))

> actually, they're all animated

The avatars are apparently only animated if they are viewed at their maximum (stock) size. It could be the image toolkit I'm using (netpbm). The akira avatars are stock 60x60 which is why they work. Right now when you click one that is auto resized they are showing up unanimated unless you click to view at full size.

It sounded to me like he was looking for a module to resize or cluster avatar sized images. (I might be misunderstanding) If he is looking for a module to use for avatar sized images externally he should use the External Image Block which might work to "avatar size" normal random images. I was hoping that maybe the style of setup I'm using would give him some ideas on how to use Gallery as an Avatar database since its such a great system.

I'll have to bust out the older vids and create some. :)

edit: The site died for awhile, due to some hosting issues. It has now been brought back and I've been keeping up with the new series as they have been released.
