Users log in to Personal Upload area

I would love to be able to set Gallery so that when users log into the system they go immediately to an upload screen which uploads to their personal user album. To go one further, it would be great to be able to choose which of the upload functions you can specify as the default, instead of going first to the standard HTTP upload option when you choose to upload, I would like to choose the Java applet for instance to allow for drag and drop and progress bar support.
