The following information is required to get an answer:
Get this information from the PHP diagnostic (in the configuration wizard).
Gallery URL (optional but very useful):andy.atfactors.ch/gallery
Gallery version:1.3.3
Apache version:don't know
PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please):don't know
Graphics Toolkit:don't know
Operating system:Win XP
Web browser/version (if applicable):

Hi,
I haven't updated my gallery for a while, and I lost my password. When I try to create a RESTADMIN file in the gallery folder it fails because the permission in the folder is not sufficient. So how can I proceed? Your advice is highly appreciated. Andreas

Hello,

you need to create a filed called "resetadmin" (EXACTLY like that) in the setup folder. Not Gallery Folder.

there's no lost password function..... the reset password.php gives a hash error. There are multiple threads on this inyour forum and not a single clear answer. Nor does the FAQ offer any usable help.

Hello QC,

when you put an empty file called "resetadmin" into the setup folder, you are able to log into the setup and thus can change the password for the user "admin".
The FAQ is very clear about this.
See I've forgotten my admin password! How can I reset it?

Also you are highjacking someone else' thread.

Hello everyone! I'm experiencing the same problem that both of you are having with the login - it's not accepting my password (which I know is correct) and the admin reset isn't working.

Tim_j, thank you for the link, but those steps did not work for me. I searched the FAQ and nothing has worked. I can't re-run the Configuration Wizard, because I cannot locate it in my files. (There is no "gallery" folder, but there is an "albums" folder. There is no "setup" folder in that directory, or any of its subdirectories.)

I'm on the verge of just deleting everything Gallery-related and going with a different program...which is too bad because I've enjoyed other's Gallery albums and spent quite some time building an initial album of my own. C'est la vie! :)

Hello drgnfille,

dont hijack other threads, even if they have the same topic ;)

I am sure there is a way to help you, but if you want to switch to another web-album, thats also fine.
There are a lot of other nice applications out there. For example coppermine. http://coppermine-gallery.net/index.php

Greetings,
Jens

swissphoto.net

Hi

It seems this problem is not solved :-(. I just experience the same problem. I'm using Gallery for quite a time: http://swissphoto.net which works very well and I build up a new one now: http://www.bilderforum.ch, where I forgot the username I've put for admin. For the future I would be very glad to know how I have to move on in such a case.

I've tried now several steps and came to the same result as described above. There is NO directory such as as "setup" folder - a emptied literally the whole FTP-Gallery-Box about this and couldn't find it.

So functioning help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks a million

Klaus

I love the program, but am having the same problem with changing admin password. The documentation says "Visit the configuration wizard in your browser" What does that mean? I am using foxfire.

Hello,

"configuration wizard" is how we call the setup / configuration process.

You can access it like this: http://www.yourDomain.tld/gallery/setup

Hi nomeus1

It's quite a time, since we last came here;-)
Meanwhile I got the answer.

Just open the file config.php in a texteditor (not word!). You will find the password on line 23.
The file ist stored at: YourDomain/gallery2/config.php

If you take that password, you should be able to login. After that just create a new user with admin rights.

nomeus1,
You are using G2 and this is a G1 thread.

Follow the directions on your login page for password recovery.

Hi nomeus1

I thought it over.

Try this:
http://www.yourdomain.dd/galerie/lib/support/

you get a security check, where you will have to type your password. You will definately find this one in the config.php file.

It the line: $gallery->setConfig('setup.password', 'your password here');

(You find it about a quater from top)

(i.e. you have to replace the word galerie with the direction your lib is in!)

Best wishes and good luck. Klaus
