The following information is required to get an answer:
Get this information from the PHP diagnostic (in the configuration wizard).
Gallery URL: http://swanseacc.sc41.info/gallery/
Gallery version: not quoted but released 04/06/06
Apache version: not quoted
PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please):PHP v4.4.0
Graphics Toolkit:ImageMagick
Operating system: Unix I think
Web browser/version (if applicable): n/a

Gallery is installed and working. HOWEVER, the config wizard inserts the command "Options -Indexes +FollowSymLinks". Due to restrictions on the server the script breaks at that command. The admin insist the command be commented out ~ which I have done successfully. Howeer each time I run the config wizard the line in uncommented again which means I have to go back and edit the .htaccess file again. Can you advise what I have to do to the config script to prevent this as I want to pass the site to its owners

I dont know if it is related ~ so I post it here. I am having difficulty with granting user permissions on this installation, esp commenting, comments are either ON globally or OFF globally, I cannot set per-user to comment.

Thanks

Martyn

Hello,

1.)
open setup/mod_rewrite.template
remove the options line.

2.)
In the setup is the global setting.
You can set per album who can vote ore not.

Tried that ~ I have set "allow comments" using the setup configuration utility, however I cannot change the permissions for an album but all other comments can be changed.

Scrolling through "permissions" list I can correctly change who can see, upload, edit images etc, but for the commenting option cannot remove **everybody** neither can I add **nobody**, **loggedin** or any named user :(. Any help will be appreciated :).

2.)

i dont know what you mean with "~". I guess you use it in your own style of communication.

About the permission change, yes. this is a bug in 1.5.3.
See http://jems.de/archive/1.5.3/updates/ for a fix.

Hi Jens, yes I often use (~) instead of dashes (-) or commas (,)

VERY many thanks for your prompt responses, my Gallery is now working 100%
