"Unable to interact with database" error since upgrade to 2.1.1

Since I upgraded to v. 2.1.1, I get a database error -- "An error has occurred while interacting with the database":
(1) When trying to upload pictures with an existing account,
(2) When someone tries to create a new account.

Ahem ... Anyone have any ideas what I could do to be able to use the Gallery again? No one can upload images to the gallery anymore. Should I reinstall from scratch? If so, how can I save all the images and descriptions, etc.? If not, would you recommend another script that might work better?

unfortunately I don't know a solution to your specific problem, but you can perhaps try and restore a backup copy of your gallery2. easier than reinstalling from scratch I think.

Hello again,

Unfortunately, I don't have a backup that goes back that far -- I upgraded some time ago, and the Gallery stopped working since the upgrade.

Should I reinstall from scratch? And if I do, will I lose the photographs, or can I still connect to the same database? If the problem is with the database, does anyone have a suggestion on how I can preserve the photos while upgrading? These photos have been uploaded by a bunch of community members, and I would hate to have to tell them that they have to say good-bye to the photos that they painstakingly uploaded to the website.

Please, help!

I'm having the same exact problem with my gallery when someone trying to upload photos. I've never updated & gallery was working fine until Saturday, when it suddenly started throwing these errors. Restoring my g2 tables didn't help, and my forum, which shares the same database is working fine, so it makes me think that despite the error message, it's not database related.
I've been asking for help for 4 days, good luck finding some too.

catnip: I guess you didn't experience the problem because of some caching, but it was there.
Please post full error msg, and we will figure it out.

washingtonheights: dunno, one would need to take a closer look.
I'd start with flushing db (and template) cache -these are maintenance tasks in admin part of g2-, then check if it still gives the same error.
