"New Item" Module not working (Siriux theme)

Hello,

I installed the "New Items" module to highlight new or updated items. But it doesn't seem to be working. I just added a "Zoo - Baby Panda" album today, and nothing shows up to identify it as new (or does this only work for pictures and not albums?).

I'm running version 1.0.3 of the "new items" module, and I've installed and activated it. It's set on the default 7 days for both new and updated items. I use a very slightly customized version of the Siriux theme.

I've tried deleting the template cache, and hard reloads, to no avail!
