Joomla! Gallery2 Integration

I have installed Gallery2 into my Joomla! site. The themes appear properly when I set a default theme in www."mysite".com/gallery.
HOWEVER!!! When I go into my site www."mysite".com and click on
Gallery. The Albums have a completely different aspect. Different
borders, different way of displaying (ie albums on top of each other instead of in a row). They are not at all displaying as if they
were in "Theme". Whichever Theme I pick, they always have the same
aspect.

I have spent a WHOLE DAY, trying to figure this out and I have not
gotten it. I have attempted to download the Embed Color Pack by
Steve Lineberry from the Gallery2 User Contributions and copy it
into my /gallery2/modules/colorpack/packs directory in my Joomla site.

I have also attempted to download and install the Gallery 2
Color Packs Module into my Joomla site.

Either way, there seems to be no installation files associated with
these as far as I can tell.

I thought that these things may help... Will they once they are
installed?

I have been completely unsuccessful in EVERYTHING I have tried.

Can a GALLERY EXPERT out there PLEASE HELP???

Thank You,

Antoine

Hi,

I'm not sure, but maybe you just have no /main.php at the end of the "URL to G2:" in the component settings.
Your Gallery version and Joomla bridge/component version would be helpful or better the URL to your site.

Kai,

Thanks for your reply. I am very much a begginer
at this and I am just having a quick look now.
However, could you please be a little more specific
as to where the end of the "URL to G2" is in the
component settings. I am not clear about that
yet.

Thank you,

Antoine

Login as admin to your Joomla backend > Components > Gallery2 > Config -> first tab - Configuration
The second input field is the "URL to G2:" setting. Enter the full URL (inc. /main.php) to your installed G2 here.
For example: http://www.yoursite.com/gallery2/main.php

Kai,

Thanks for your quick response. The problem however
continues. You are correct, the "URL to G2" is
missing in the config of Gallery2 Components.
STRANGE PROBLEM: I have typed in the URL and hit
save. The URL I typed in dissapears and does not
save. Thus next time I go to: Components >
Gallery2 > Config, the URL that I typed in in
effectively gone. Repetition does not help.
It does not hold.

This leads to questions:
(1). What is the predictable effect of having
the "URL to G2" info missing in the config?

(2). What would cause it not to save when I type
it in.

(3) What do I need to do about it? For example
do I need to completely reinstall Gallery2 ??

Thank you once again for your response!

Kindly,

Antoine

OK, thats a bug when you upgrade the component from 2.0.12 to 2.0.13, see here for further information: http://opensource.4theweb.nl/index.php?option=com_joomlaboard&Itemid=&func=view&catid=5&id=1300

Uninstall the Gallery2 component with the Joomla installer, manually drop the tables jos_gallery2 and jos_gallery2_useralbums from your Joomla database and reinstall component 2.0.13.

- or edit your Joomla database (with phpmyadmin for example) and change the key "relativeg2path" to "g2Uri" in the jos_gallery2 table.

Kai,

I am checking with my devlopment sponsor as to the version's we
installed and upgraded. The directories of our web hosting
server is the following: /httpdocs/gallery NOT /httpdocs/gallery2
I believe however that I may have manually called it "gallery"
instead of "gallery2".

Should I manually change the directory name to "gallery2"?

Or

Should I leave it alone and let the "fix" you proposed take care of it?

You said:

>> Uninstall the Gallery2 component with the Joomla installer,
>> manually drop the tables jos_gallery2 and jos_gallery2_useralbums
>> from your Joomla database and reinstall component 2.0.13.

(1) Does this mean COMPLETELY UNINSTALL GALLERY2 from my web server?

(2) How does one manually remove jos_gallery2 and jos_gallery2_useralbums
from the Joomla database?

(3) Does a "reinstall component 2.0.13" effectively completely reinstall
Gallery2 into my Joomla! ?

===>>> OR <<<===

Would you recommend more simply to, as you said:

>> edit your Joomla database (with phpmyadmin for example) and
>> change the key "relativeg2path" to "g2Uri" in the jos_gallery2 table

If I have never yet used phpmyadmin, but do have editing experience
from the past, where would you recommend best to get phpmyadmin?

Or do you find this too complex a solution for a complete "begginer"
in the PHP world?

Once again, thank you for continueing to help out with this!

Hi Antoine,

you do not need to uninstall Gallery2 from your webserver just the Joomla component - or change the key to g2Uri as described.
Normally the hoster or provider of your server/webspace should provide a tool to edit your databases. Mostly this tool is phpmyadmin but I think this depends on the hoster.
Maybe you can ask your hoster to drop the tables or change the key for you.

(Another idea is to ask the developer of the G2 bridge, Michiel Bijland, if he wants to provide a fix for this.)

Kai,

Thank you for your brainpower in attempting to help us solve our
critical Joomla! / Gallery2 Intergration prolem. We have managed
to make the changes you have suggested.

However, the problem is NOT resolved!

No matter which theme is chosen, the same display happens
when accessing Gallery. Some albums have a slight purple
frame around them and some blue. Now however, although the
URL to G2 is properly saving, the display of Gallery has
actually downgraded. Now the photos are not displaying,
a "red x" is there in the place of the albums.

Do you have any more thoughts on solving this?

Could you directly give your help? I am

.
Perhaps we can resolve this together and put the solution
on this forum thread...

Or, if you cannot do that, please let me know if you have
any other thoughts on solving this very frustrating problem.

Thank you,

Antoine
