I am trying to get v 1.4 of the MapTheme working in G2.
I have an album with the Map Theme, and I would like it to display locations for all photos with geo coordinates that are located in any of the albums in the gallery.
I have a situation where I maintain a site, but multiple users enter new albums. I can train them to link georeferenced items from their new album, but that doesn't seem to completely work.
I can get it to map photos that are entered directly into that album. When I try to link a photo to the map album, the photo appears, but the data in the 'GPS' field is not either linked or copied.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
Thank you,
David.

I believe...
Linking a photo (Create Link) only links the image and nothing else.
This is true for all linked photos (Map Theme or not).
The GPS information would need to be input for/on the linked photo.

That confirms what I am observing. So, the linked photo approach will likely not work for what I am trying to do.
As a different approach, I also read a hint about setting up the map album as the parent album and all subsequent albums as children. Would this allow the use of the Map album with items (photos and geo coordinates) from all of the other albums?
If this is a possible solution, is it possible to set it up so that any new album added by a user is automatically entered as a child album of the Map album?
Thanks,
David.

The Map Theme works at the album level (it will not recurse into sub albums).
A scenario...
There exists an album (TopAlbum) which contains items (photos) that have
coordinates defined in custom field (GPS) and this album is assigned The
Map Theme. The items (photos) will show up on the map with green markers.
Now create a sub album (SubAlbum) in TopAlbum. Assign coordinates to
SubAlbum (in the GPS field). Assign a thumbnail to SubAlbum. Assign The Map
Theme to SubAlbum. Now when you look at TopAlbum you will see the item (photo)
markers in green and the Album (SubAlbum) marker in red. Place items (photos)
in SubAlbum and assign them coordinates in the GPS field. Now when you click
on the red SubAlbum marker a new map will appear with green markers which
represent the items (photos) in SubAlbum (no markers representing anything
in TopAlbum).
Maybe a convoluted explanation; but , I tried.
