Can't install cainlevy theme

Hi, I uploaded the unpacked cainlevy theme into the themes directory on my gallery2 install.
I have run the upgrader several times, and it sees the Cainlevy theme, but the checkbox is greyed out. I cannot select it (or any other modules for that matter.) I've spent an hour searching the forums, but I can't figure out what to do.

Also, I get this error, too. "FAQ: I get "Notice: Only variable references should be returned by reference in ", what's wrong?" Putting in the suggested solution did not help me. However, this doesn't seem to be related to my problem.

Of course, now I find the way to do it. I had to click on the Site Admin > Themes > All Themes tab. That's where the you add a theme. I wish they had a theme block on the main modules page. I think it's best to handle all upgrades from one place.
