Is Gallery 2.1 coded in xhtml and CSS with no tables?

I have done several searches on this, but most apply to old versions. I had heard a rumor of this being so a while ago.

Still trying to decide if this is the right product for my next project. I am also trying to figure out why any newer gallery I look at has very ugly urls, where my old one ( Gallery v1.4.3-pl2) has very pretty urls.

Also, this version of Gallery - Gallery v1.4.3-pl2 will work just perfectly for my needs, is there anything security wise or otherwise that would make it not a wise choice for a small print selling (paypal button is all) site?

If the 2.1 version doesn't have correctly formed urls, then I need to move on to something else soon.
(meaning: www.sitename.com/name of gallery/name of album/name of image.jpg)
without the /v/ and numbers/ and gallery/.. am i clear?

thanks for your help.

FAQ:
- Is this the right forum to ask for help for problems with Gallery 2?
If the other forums about installing, troubleshooting, administering and migrating are not applicable, then yes :)
- Is there a list of all features of Gallery 2?
Yes, see http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/G1-G2_Comparison#Feature_Chart (incomplete)
- Can I discuss new features here?
Sure, please also look at the list of current feature requests on http://gallery.menalto.com/sfvote/all and use the search function to find forum topics related to that feature

Gallery 2.1 is XHTML. Themes decide wether or not to use tables, and there are a couple of themes out there that don't use tables. (Tables make sense for things like tables of EXIF info but if you hate tables you probably are set on them all being gone..)

1.4.3-pl2 has had security issues, you should atleast upgrade to the most recent version of G1.

Pretty urls are a feature in both G1 and G2, but its up to the administrator to enable them. You can remove the /v/ from G2 if you make sure not to name an album the same thing as any of the folders in the Gallery 2 directory.

Thanks, yes tables for data are ok, but I never use them for design, and my plan for this gallery is a very simple design. Good to know about the /v/ that's easy enough to take care of.
But what about these:
http://pictures.thelineberrys.com/gallery2/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=598
http://pictures.thelineberrys.com/gallery2/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=606

How do you get it to just do:
(example)
http://www.creationdreams.net/eyesee/dragonfly
like my old gallery did?
And if

but its up to the administrator to enable them.

then why don't people do that???

I will look into the recent G1, I was just hoping to go with the latest and greatest :)

thank you

The admin of thelinberrys.com doesnt have short urls turned on. You have to enable the short urls module and customize the rules to your liking. I don't know why people don't do that, on occassion people have hosts that don't support mod_rewrite or whatever that thing IIS uses.

Go to G2 all the way. Most recent G1 is the minimal solution :)

thank you..
I will install a Fantastico version 2.0 something to play with soon.
If that goes well, I may wait for the 2.1 version which I hear is very close, and download it.

I am sure many more questions will surface.
