I've spent a while working on this but I've been unable to reproduce the problem in 2.2. Coenvdz, can you upgrade to 2.2 please and see if you can still reproduce the problem? If so, I'll keep digging. Thanks!

I have a fresh install of 2.2.1. I've been trying to use galleryadd.pl to take advantage of its ability to recursively add folders and create new albums. I have all of my photos in subdirectories under "2007." From 2007 I execute the following command:
System http://www.mysite/main.php [G2]
Login: Me [OK]
Album: fetching list [OK]
Check: 2007 [OK]
Create 2007 (2007) (326) [OK]
Check: 01 Christmas in LA [OK]
Create 2007/01_Christmas_in_LA (01 Christmas In La) [ERROR]
Error: could not create album - unknown error

debug_user=Me

debug_exception=user id\: 13 doesn't have permission\: core.addAlbumItem for item id\: 2007
On my gallery I see the 2007 directory but nothing below it. User 13 is an administrator and has no problem uploading files directly. I'd really like to square this one away so that I can upload all of my files at once instead of manually creating each album.

I just resolved the user: 5 error for my site. I renamed the ".htaccess" file in my Gallery folder to "php.ini". I had read somewhere a while ago that this might fix some Gallery and other PHP issues. I can't tell you at this point the technicalities as to why this works. Just something I read a while ago.

I have this problem as well and have been unable to solve it with any of the ways recommended in the thread. Curiously enough, the problem happens in IE and Firefox, but works successfully in Opera. (And going to the applet page in Safari completely crashes it).
My system information is as follows.
Quote:
Gallery version = 2.2.2 core 1.2.0.4
PHP version = 5.2.0 apache2handler
Webserver = Apache/2.0.59 (Unix) PHP/5.2.0
Database = mysqlt 5.0.27-standard, lock.system=flock
Toolkits = Exif, Getid3, LinkItemToolkit, Thumbnail, Dcraw, Ffmpeg, Gd, SquareThumb, ImageMagick
Acceleration = none, none
Operating system = Linux gallery 2.6.5-7.191-100HZ-smp #1 SMP Thu Aug 31 11:06:59 PDT 2006 i686
Default theme = matrix
gettext = disabled
Locale = en_US
Browser = Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.5) Gecko/20070713 Firefox/2.0.0.5

Rows in GalleryAccessSubscriberMap table = 84
Rows in GalleryUser table = 4
Rows in GalleryItem table = 80
Rows in GalleryAlbumItem table = 8
Rows in GalleryCacheMap table = 0
Any additional help or recommendations you could give me would be great, but likewise let me know if you need anything from me to get this bug locked down.

I had this with Gallery Remote, and clearing the Java temp files as described above solved it for me.

Hrmmm, I was experiencing this problem a few days ago. I was using FireFox and getting "Upload error: Upload failed: 'user id: 5 doesn't have permission: core.addDataItem for item id: 4590'."
I switched to Safari and it works fine...seems to be something with the cache. Cleared the FireFox cache and works fine for me now.
