Hi folks, hoping someone can help me.

I've spent the past 4-5 days upgrading to Gallery 2 (AMAZING JOB!!!! I though gallery 1 was awsome, but when I got this up and running I was sooo impressed! well done everyone!), and then i found the Map Module and theme! wow! I love it!

My problem is after installing and activating the Map Module (0.4.9c), when I click on the 'Google Map' page under 'Admin Options / Gallery ', i only get a blank page (See attached file 'Gallery_screenShot.jpg).

If I edit an album, i get the Map's Tab, but as I can't enter my API Key, it just errors out for the most part.

I've searched for similar problems, but can't seem to find anything like this. I've listed my system information below.

I have installed the map theme, and that worked perfect. But I really want to have the full module working.

Also, I'm not used to sourceforge, but I went to the gmap page, but i found it very 'unfriendly'. I couldn't find any posts or user forums to discuss issues there. I read a ton of other threads on here, and some mention that all support will happen over there now. Hope its still ok to post this here.

As one last test, I just uninstalled both module and theme, manually deleted the directorys, re-loaded the map module, ensured the permissions were exactly the same as the other modules including file and group ownership. Installed it, activated it, but sadly the page still shows up as blank (like the attached screenshot.)

Hope someone can help, as i'd love to use this amazing piece of work!!

Thanks everyone,

Jeff

Are there any errors in your server's error log? Like file not
found or anything?
Try uninstalling and install again. Maybe the install did not
work properly.

That's because I have been slacking off ... I need to update the sf.net page to says that suport needs to happen in this very forum (so... good guess !)

The reason for us to use the sourceforge website as well is that at some point we had a thread that was 20 pages long and with MANY subject discussed in it.

So for clarification:

sourceforge.net for BUGS, FEATURE REQUESTS and DOWNLOADS
this forum for SUPPORT
Codex for BASIC HELP (http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php?title=Gallery2:Modules:Map)

And if unsure, just post here we check everyday ;)

Now On to your probem :-)
In Most cases (and it did happen many time in the past already), the behaviour you experiencing is due to corrupted files in the module. I would recommend downloading the module again from sourceforge and then deleting the folder map under your modules and reuploading it. There should be no particular reason for such behaviour.

In any case, no worries we will figure this out, we're just warming up to the problem. :)

wow Thanks! you guys rock!! ultra fast response time :)

I completly removed the map folder from the modules dir... used lynx to download the sourceforge file and unzip to extract it. (again with the noob linux stuff, i was expecting to see a tar.gz file, and was a little surprised to see it as .zip)

mv'd it into the modules,
chmod -R 755 map/
chown -R root:root map/

(I'm still quite the noob with linux so i did the chmod/chown so it has the exact same permissions as all the other modules, hehe)

re-install, but sadly i still get the same blank screen.

Glamoid: no errors for the past 2-3 days in my apache2 error.logs

Termite: if you do think its a corrupted module, perhaps I can try the previous version? I'm heading into the office now but I can dig around and see if I can find an earlier version, just to check.

thanks again guys!!!

PM me some access info (URL/admin access) and I'd happily have
a look. Just trying to keep Termite doing important stuff. :-)

To give back , at least with regards to The Map Module, you
might consider Donating to Termite's GPSr fund. :-)
