another problem is raised by exif 1.0.1, i cann't upload pictures.
when I use applet, it is said:
1.jpg: You may need to set LimitRequestBody 16777216 and memory_limit = 64M in /etc/php.ini and /etc/httpd/conf.d/php.conf on your Gallery server java.net.SocketException: Connection reset
i tried all the other alternatives of uploading all failed. and when i deactivate the exif 1.0.1, i am able to upload. what's the matter?

Never had such a problem with it; although, I use the browser
interface to upload. Maybe try completely uninstalling exif
and reinstall.

This might be a dumb statement but did you try to actually raise the memory bar to 64M like suggested ?

i did uninstall and reinstall the module again, but still has the same error. i didn't changed a thing like a memory properties or, may I change it back? it seems to be a server limitation, not what i could change.

i have find a clue, it seems that i used a badge crop software to crop the photos so that a part of exif info are missing. i changed back to use photoshop to crop them one by one and saved, it is no longer prompted the error. thank you guys.
