Should I, or look somewhere else

OK, I've only looked around a bit, read a few threads on the forum, and had a cursory look over the installation docs.

My question to the general "Gallery" public, is this software generally easy to set up and get running and keep running?

I am the webmaster (putting it very loosly) for the Northern Virginia Chapter of Trout Unlimited (www.nvatu.org). We have a UBB forum, which is simple, and easy to use and watch over. I'm OK with uploading via FTP, getting web pages to post, and can even write pages without a GUI! (right, not a big deal)... what I don't want or need is a programming nightmare or administrative headache. Now, I'm an old unix geezer. I wrote C code, can navigate file structures, and generally understand URL's. I know if something is not in the right place, or right CASE, you won't find it!

Would you expect someone with zero knowledge of the PHP/Webserver/Java scene and such to be able to install and get Gallery 1 up and running easily?

Thanks for your constructive comments!
Michael

Yeah, you should be able to run and install Gallery. Try it, and have a look at the documentation.
